Are so short of doctors and nurses that patients safety and the quality of care they receive are under threat. According to the financial times, borisjohnson has shelved a proposed cut to Corporation Tax in order to free up £6 billion for extra spending in an election move that signals the governments willingness to prioritise Public Services over measures to support business. The i looks forward to the first Election Debate between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn saying theres pressure on the labour leader to use the television showdown to boost his partys poll ratings. And the metro leads with two teenagers being jailed or a total of at least 44 years for the murder ofjodie chesney, in a case of mistaken identity. Lets have a closer look at all of that and lets start with the eye. An interesting picture. Such a curious, not a particular pre possessing one and must be said. Ido pre possessing one and must be said. I do not know about the uk but i did not find either man particularly visual. Not my type. Half and half and we were saying just before they made a mistake by putting Jeremy Corbyn on the right and johnson on the left. But this is on the eve, tomorrow night, wednesday night, will be the first debate on that at their channel, itb. It will be head to head, johnson and corbyn much to the chagrin ofjoe swenson and Nicola Sturgeon and i must say i am sort of with them, both in terms of the fact that the way the electorate looks at politics is no longer binary and much more splintered and much more fluid political allegiances and the s p and led them, could not protect power at which are both out and out remain Political Parties and Jeremy Corbyn is famously hedging his bets and jack Dontae Johnson wants corbyn is famously hedging his bets and jack dontaejohnson wants a speedy brexit to grade are not getting in this debate by the bbc which is also head to head and i think viewers are being cheated. Would you agree with that point and i guess the point of having these two lea d e rs i guess the point of having these two leaders on is that everyone who is pulling and let that thanks only one of these two could be prime minister. I think that is a reasonable position and i think the liberal democrat then s p should get theirtime in the liberal democrat then s p should get their time in the sun and will do when they release their manifestos before their policies but at the end of the day jeremy before their policies but at the end of the dayJeremy Corbyn are Boris Johnson is going to be in ten downing street and if you have a muddled state with a lot of different perspectives it is harder to get to the cracks at the issues and holding these two men accountable in the moment to place them on certain topics is easier to do there if you have other people on stage. Boris johnson has issued this tJeremy Corbyn. Stage. Boris johnson has issued this t Jeremy Corbyn. Words stage. Boris johnson has issued this tJeremy Corbyn. Words and we have not seen the letter and it was under embargo moments ago and it was compelling Jeremy Corbyn to come up with a clear brexit stance and headed the debate and he was trying to highlight what you suggest. As Jeremy Corbyn as carrying. He is trying to hedge his facts and in a position of renegotiating another brexit deal with the eu and having a second referendum and him trying to stay neutral and that. It does come across as fast does not come across as the clearest in the world. Across as fast does not come across as the clearest in the worldm straddles both leave and remain supportive so therefore it has to try to unify the country and say we all deliver a better deal than the conservatives and so put that back to the country and that is their possession. Famously having the cake and eat it. It reflects. It reflects the fact that labour worries that its vote is more reflective of both sides of the brexit argument than the other party and now particularly having been kicked out and there are very few moderates left in the conservative party and there are very few remainders left in the conservative party. Sell at least it has clarity and has moved a huge amount onto the brexit tariff where the lib dems are going for it did not bother with the referendum, if we, orthey going for it did not bother with the referendum, if we, or they when power, which is fat chance of that, we will get rid of that. Labour is occupying the middle but in such a fraught, binary world of brexit. Being in the middle is not necessarily advantageous. What is also interesting is that the ft reads on this headline ofjohnson, and the corporation, tax cut in a way that some people say the conservatives have been dragged to the left by these pretty radical proposals that seem to be coming out of labour. I have heard quite a few people say that if borisjohnson is a pin numberten, people say that if borisjohnson is a pin number ten, Jeremy Corbyn will have one to some extent and it will not be a mass nationalization or that heavy tax that he is suggesting that heavy tax that he is suggesting that a policy like this is designed to try to suggest that Boris Johnson is not a party of big business and even basic out borisjohnson is not a party of big business and even basic out Boris Johnson was talking a lot of sense on Corporation Tax cuts recognising sometimes when you cut certain taxes, you increase revenue but that isa taxes, you increase revenue but that is a tough sell and not intuitive and you have to make the case for it. And i suspect he is getting nervous here and it is a shame because i think it is a stealth tax on workers and consumers and not fit for the 215t century. On workers and consumers and not fit for the 21st century. Like you that . They are not the faithless institutions. They are not faceless. They are made of people and if money is not going back into salaries or invested because it is being taxed and that is a stealth tax on the workers and a cost for consumers and we had a lot of arguments that Companies Like apple and google are not paying their fair share contacts and Corporation Tax is out of date. It is still pretty low here, isnt it . Absolutely it is low here, isnt it . Absolutely it is low and all governments have to juggle low and all governments have to juggle physical demands and priorities and if you cut taxes somewhere, you are either going to have to restrict spending or raise them somewhere else. Everyone wants growth and the question is how do you achieve it . And the fact that the bag tech giants are getting away with not paying their attacks and quite an egregious manner is in my view not a reason to cut Corporation Tax. It is the same as income tax, super rich get away with it, they have their homes and Everything Else but that is not an argument for not taxing people who arentjust quite well off. The issue is to go after people who are illegally using loopholes not to pay. And with tech companies, go after their revenues. Lam not companies, go after their revenues. I am not saying you dont tax them at all i am saying it is not fit for purpose any more and i think it is a real shame there is not more discussion on how to fundamentally transform this because it is not that they are egregiously refusing to pay taxes. I do not disagree with you but the fact that the profit motive is a good motive and you Want Companies to make a profit so they can invest but there are companies that make there are Good Companies that make there are Good Companies that make there are Good Companies that make profits in order to reinvest and to reward good work and Good Management and Everything Else and then there are companies that arejust taking and then there are companies that are just taking the mickey and i agree with you that we could go for quite a radical tax reform but i thinkjust by simply quite a radical tax reform but i think just by simply lowering quite a radical tax reform but i thinkjust by simply lowering it thatis thinkjust by simply lowering it that is not the way to go. Lets move on to the independent because they have the headline of 9. 5 million missing voters and a state that adults including a third of teenagers are not registered and some pensioners also. And they are saying they have got to get people onto the polls. And it is important to all parties. Very much so. And this is the negative side of the story but an important one because it is fighting a lot of people who are eligible to vote had not registered yet and they are of until the 26th of november to do so. And more positive story is that 1. 5 million in the past two weeks since the general election has been called have registered to vote and the record of young people registering as atan record of young people registering as at an all time high. There is a more positive twist as well. Quickly moving us onto the guardian, patients at risk warren nhs chief. The nhs Public Service is of course have the big story that. And obviously leaving aside the many human tragedies methods of nest operations and people dying or not recovering as well as they could have been because of that and politically it is alongside the slow response to the floods in yorkshire and other places and it is the area of maximum vulnerability for the conservatives and the old adage that labour cannot go on law and order and the tories cannot go on the nhs. The polls did not seem to be budging but the one area if i was Boris Johnson that it would be worried about is my story such as these. It is not so much what you read in the newspapers but what people actually experience. We have one minute i think left or sell and let me talk about the daily mail. Andrew out in the cold. Prince andrea still getting a lot of very debt for difficult headlines. The interview was so poor and showed no empathy for the victims of jami was so poor and showed no empathy for the victims ofjami epstein and it appears companies are reacting as best as our charities.
