(Photo courtesy of Mati CIO) DAVAO CITY - The city government of Mati sees strengthened police visibility in the area with the launching of Mati City Police Station (CPS) Bike Patrollers on Monday. In an interview, Ben Jason Tesiorna, Mati information officer said an initial of eight Mati CPS Bike Patrollers were deployed by the city government and Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure safety for the residents and the guests in various areas, including tourist sites. "For now, eight were deployed yet. Expect that more will be augmented," he said. Tesiorna added that the bicycles were donated by the Mati local government. During the soft launching on Monday, the Mati PNP along with the Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office and the city government presented the mountain bikes that will be used by the bike patrollers. "They will be assigned as tourist police," Tesiorna said. He said the bike patrollers will be responsible for the expeditious investigating of crimes against tourists and providing information about the local community and ensuring their safety and security. The launch was attended by Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat along with provincial and city police officials. (PNA) }
