General Motors is offering BrightDrop upfitting support that can retrofit the newly launched logistics brand’s entire ecosystem into existing Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based fleets.
BrightDrop upfitting support allows fleet customers to modify their existing vehicle fleets in order to utilize BrightDrop technology like the EP1 electrically-assisted delivery pallet. By adapting existing commercial vehicle fleets to use the EP1, fleet customers can easily load and unload EP1 pallets in the back of their Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans without having to switch its fleet over the BrightDrop EV600 delivery van.
A fleet customer may want to use BrightDrop upfitting to retrofit their vehicles to use the EP1, as the pallet can help improve worker productivity and reduce the chance of muscle strain or injury. The pallet is designed to quickly and easily move goods over short distances, like from a delivery vehicle to a customer’s front door, for example. It features in-wheel hub motors, has a maximum speed of 3 mph and a maximum payload capacity of 200 lbs. The interior shelves also have a max load rating of 100 lbs.
