Brookline: Don’t go with the vaccine-seeking strangers
Wicked Local
Brookline officials are warning residents 75 years and older not to connect with strangers offering to serve as a “companion” in order to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Last week, Massachusetts began allowing anyone who accompanied an eligible senior to a state-run vaccination site to get the shot as well, regardless of their own eligibility. The policy was intended to get more of the state’s vulnerable residents vaccinated and was targeted more toward caregivers and family members.
However, shortly after Gov. Charlie Baker announced the new policy, classified ads were popping up online soliciting vaccine-eligible seniors and offering rides and even money, Wicked Local media partner WCVB reported.
