Buying second-hand phone? Check IMEI number on govt database to protect yourself

Often times the price of a good quality second-hand mobile is so good that within minutes of it becoming available it gets sold. However before buying a second-hand mobile its IMEI number should be checked on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) website maintained by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
