The eternal debate about Dublin’s seemingly never-ending football domination got another twist this week, sparked by the convention speech of Leinster chairman Pat Teehan and the incredulous response of former Westmeath player John Connellan.
The Leinster championship may be “dead and buried”, to quote Connellan, but what about the bigger All-Ireland picture?
Galway U-20 manager Donal Ó Fátharta, for one, is upbeat about the prospects of Dublin’s six-year Sam Maguire stranglehold being loosened “in the next year or two”. Maybe even by his own county.
