CARE Concerned About Continued and Increased FGC Practices in Somalia and Somaliland

As the world commemorates International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) on February 6, CARE is concerned by the continued practice which is negatively affecting girls in Somalia/Somaliland and calls for a zero-tolerance policy towards the harmful practice of Female Genital Cutting (FGC), commonly referred to as FGM.

UNICEF data Somalia has the highest rate of FGC in the world with around 98% of women aged 15 to 49 having undergone it.
