CFTC Publishes Digital Assets Primer
The
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has published a
Digital Assets Primer to provide information to the public about emerging concepts in digital assets. The document is said to be part of a series by LabCFTC, a relatively new division at the Commission that focuses on innovation in financial services.
Brian Trackman, LabCFTC Senior Counsel and lead author of the primer, said the document builds upon a publication released in 2017 that focused on virtual currencies. This document incorporates crypto as well as smart contracts and other “digitized representations of value or ownership.”
