Chennai gears up for Metro phase I extension line inauguration at PM Modi's hands

Decks cleared for the inauguration of the 9-km Washermenpet-Wimco Nagar line under Chennai Metro Rail’s phase I extension project. All checks have been carried out and PM Modi will inaugurate it on Sunday.

Key Highlights
Chennai Metro's Phase 1 Extension project includes a 9.051 km extension of the 23.1 km Blue Line, built in the 45.1 km Phase 1 project.
The Chennai residents' requirements to travel from Wimco Nagar to Airport, covering nearly 31 km on a direct train in a matter of just one hour will soon be realised as the Chennai Metro Rail Limited opens up the extension corridor northward from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar through 8 stations.
