HENDERSON â Cindy Bennett began her term as superintendent of the Vance County Schools on July 1. Her contract, which will pay her $170,000 a year to start, runs through June 30, 2025.
The majority of Bennettâs annual salary will come from the state, as dictated by the State Board of Educationâs salary schedule for superintendents plus a monthly bonus it pays to superintendents who, like Bennett, have a Ph.D.
The rest will come via a $3,362.67 monthly supplement using local money controlled by the Vance County school board. The local supplement will increase over time in line with the percentages added to the stateâs share by the N.C. General Assembly, using the highest of the percentage raises legislators give to teachers, superintendents, or any other category of administrator.
