LISBON — Renovation of the Columbiana County Jail using federal COVID-19 aid is expected to be completed within four weeks.
County Commissioner Mike Halleck issued the update at Wednesday’s meeting, reporting that renovation of the minimum security wing of the jail would make it easier to quarantine inmates who test positive for COVID-19.
Commissioners decided last fall to use some of its federal CARES Act money to renovate the minimum-security wing, which was converted from the county nursing home in 1998. It was badly in need of being updated, and commissioners decided to use CARES money to accomplish that in a way that would allow a portion of it to be used to quarantine inmates who have tested for COVID-19.
