More than 50,000 Chautauqua County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, state statistics indicate. That represents about 39% of the county’s entire population, while — according to county data that slightly lags state information — 42.75% of eligible residents over the age of 16 have received a shot.
Meanwhile, 36,986 residents have completed their vaccine series — meaning they have either received both of the two-shot vaccines or have received the one-dose shot.
The county should see a significant boost in those who have completed the vaccination process shortly. That’s because thousands of local residents who took part in one of a series of mass vaccination clinics about a month ago — many held at SUNY Fredonia and Jamestown Community College — will soon return for second doses.
