CROMWELL тАФ The $54.3 million 2021-22 budget was adopted Tuesday with no tax increase, which is not as surprising as it seems.
This is the fourth year in a row the municipal spending package was approved with no tax increase, according to data provided by Director of Finance Marianne Sylvester.
Since 2018-19, the tax rate has remained at 30.33 mills, Sylvester said. That is the result, town officials say, of close attention to detail, a strong local economy, continuing efforts to lure new businesses to town while supporting existing ones, steady growth in the grand list, and careful use of surplus funds.
