Army and has held that position since trump came into office. He has been waiting in the wings. When Patrick Shanahan was the nominee after jim mattis laughed, he was viewed as in the running but did not get the not. Now he is on the fast track. He has sailed through confirmation. The only pushback he got from senators was from Elizabeth Warren who pushed him on his board for raytheon. He was a vp for Government Relations and their top lobbyist on capitol hill. She asked whether that would present a conflict of interest and wanted him to make a commitment to not work for another defense contractor for four years after leaving government service. He would not commit to that. She asked for other concessions he would not agree to, on the advice of his counsel at dod. It seemed like the other senators on the committee were very laudatory of him. He was introduced by senator tim kaine, a democrat, who had nice things to say about him. The word is there going to have the first vote on him on a day and monday and it could be as soon as tuesday he gets the final vote, and he is seen to be sailing through barring unforeseen circumstances. He worked in the senate for a while. He was a west point classmate of mike pompeo, secretary of state. He has been in the world a long time and has a lot of friends, democrat and republican, and he may get some opposition and questions may continue to him. By enlarge, he seems to have gotten off pretty well, gotten off to a fast start. One of the issues the senate has been facing is the nine 11 9 11 victims confirmation fund. When will we see action . It is an interesting saga. There have been several iterations of this. Congress has funded this 9 11 Victims Compensation fund in various ways over the year and 2017, provided 5 billion. They are trying to fund it through the end of the century essentially, through 2092. It is kind of dependent on how long survivors are with us. Obviously, this is a long time horizon, but it passed the house last week through the urging of jon stewart, comedian, celebrity there, and also members of fdny, Fire Department and Police Department of new york. It passed the house about a week ago and now heads to the senate floor. Kirsten gillibrand tried to pass it by unanimous consent. That effort was blocked by rand paul and mike lee, who had concerns about how it would be paid for and how long it would be in effect. The vote has been pushed into next week, but it is expected the senate will vote on that tuesday afternoon, and both rand paul and mike lee will get a vote on their amendment. They need 50 votes to pass either one of those and they are not expected to get that, so there is a little bit of a delay that has caused criticism to be aimed at paul and lee from jon stewart and survivors of the 9 11 attacks and cleanup of the site. It appears Mitch Mcconnell is cool committed to moving this. We will keep following you on twitter, daniel flatley, your website bloomberg. Thank you.
