The question is if the motion is amended to be agreed to . The ayes have it. The ayes have it. Order. We now come to motion number two. Ministerial whip on duty, formally not move. Thank you. Order. The Prime Minister. P. M. Johnson mr. Speaker, i am very grateful to you. Im very grateful to the staff and everyone who has put themselves out and come here to give up their time in this debate today. It has been a very important debate, an exceptional moment for our country and the last opportunity to have a meaningful vote as effectively been passed up because the meaningful vote has been voided of meaning. But i wish the house to know that i am not daunted or dismayed. It probably became likely once it was clear that the amendment was going to remain on the order paper. I continue in the very strong belief that the best thing for the u. K. And the whole of europe is for us to leave with this new deal on october 31, and to anticipate the questions coming from the benches opposite, i will not negotiate a delay with the eu, and neither does the law compel me to do so. I will tell our friends and colleagues in the eu exactly what i have told everyone for the 88 days i have served in served as Prime Minister, that further delay will be bad for our country, bad for the European Union, and bad for democracy. Next week, the government will introduce the legislation needed for us to leave the eu with our new deal by october 31. I hope that the European Union colleagues and friends will not be attracted as the benches opposite our or rather i should say the front bench is, by delay. And i hope the honorable members, faced with a choice of our new deal will change their minds, because it was pretty close today. I hope they will change their minds and support this deal in overwhelming numbers. Since i became Prime Minister, i said that we must get on and get brexit done on october 31 so that this country can move on. That policy remains unchanged. No delays, and i will continue to do all i can to get brexit done on october 31, and i continue to commend this excellent deal to the house. Point of order. Point of order. Mr. Jeremy corbyn. Mr. Corbyn thank you, mr. Speaker. I welcome todays vote. Parliament has clearly spoken. The Prime Minister was heard. Yes, he was. I am telling you what the situation is. AndPrime Minister was heard the leader of the opposition will be heard, it is as simple and inarguable as that. Mr. Corbyn mr. Speaker, i welcome todays vote. It is an emphatic decision from this house to decline to back the Prime Ministers deal today and clearly voted to stop a no deal crash out from the European Union. NowPrime Minister must comply with the law. He can no longer use the threat of a no deal crash out to blackmail members into supporting his deal. Labour is not prepared to sell out the communities we represent. We are not prepared to sell out out there future. We believe that ultimately the people must have the final say for brexit, which actually only the labour party is offering. Today is an historic day for parliament because we will not be blackmailed by a Prime Minister who apparently is prepared, once again, to defy a law passed by this parliament. I invite him to think very carefully about the remarks he just made about refusing, apparently, to abide by the act required. Announcer cspans campaign after the vote, the london times reported that the Prime Minister is pushing for another downing street refused to confirm immediately that mr. Johnson was sent a letter asking the European Union for a delay as he is required to do under the terms of british law. He said he would not negotiate another extension. Read more at the times. Co.
