Hearts and minds. Trust that scientists and researchers will speed treatments and cures that we need. In the meantime, help is on its way. One hundred 50 members of the house of representatives could participate in last fridays debate on the to trillion dollar on the 2 trillion Coronavirus Relief package. Reached out and receive 30 videos from representatives, all 30 from democrats. Coming up, we will include several more representatives representatives. This is congresswoman kendra horn from oklahoma. I am excited the house of representatives just passed the bipartisan cares act. This is the third package, bipartisan package, that congress has passed in as many weeks to help our communities, first responders, health care providers, individuals, businesses, families, with dealing with this covid19 crisis. I am coming to you from Oklahoma City because i am in the last day of a 14day quarantine after being exposed to the covid19 virus. Oklahoma, am here in i have been fighting to ensure the package we passed was bipartisan and got relief to places it was most needed, and includes critical oversight to money,we are getting the relief and support where it needs to be as quickly and efficiently as possible. Although this bill is not perfect, it is a bipartisan effort that does just that. It includes critical protections for workers, expanding Unemployment Insurance for workers, including gig and selfemployed individuals. Ed includes direct Financial Support to 125 million americans, as well as grants to our Small Businesses keep the lights on and stay afloat, and key people on their payrolls even though the doors have to be shuttered as we flatten this curve. It provides record funding and support for Health Care Workers, those people putting our lives at risk, to make sure they have personal protective equipment and resources they need to treat those who contract the virus. It does more than that and is not perfect, but it also provides oversight to make sure those reese horses make sure those resources are getting to where they need to be. I have been critical on of people on both sides of the aisle for using this crisis to score political points. Dog member of the blue caucus in the bipartisan problem solvers caucus, i will fight for sensible, Bipartisan Solutions that provide relief and resources where most needed, because we are in this together and will get through it together. Thank you to all of you who have shared your stories. Please keep doing so, and we will keep fighting for you in this and future packages. Thank you, and have a great day. Derek kilmer here. Let me tell you why i support the cares act as a response to the coronavirus crisis. Folks should not have to worry about being evicted or foreclosed upon for circumstances beyond their control. This bill takes steps to address that. Students should not have to worry about taking on additional student that because of things outside their control. This bill takes important steps to address that. Our Frontline Health care workers, doctors and nurses and others on the front lines of combating this virus shouldnt have to worry about getting personal protective equipment they need to be safe and be able to care for patients, and this bill takes steps to address that. And Small Businesses and workers who have been rocked as a consequence of economic disruption caused by this virus should not have to worry about paying the bills, and this legislation takes steps to address that. It is not perfect legislation. I have found very little in washington dc that i would count as perfect. But it undeniably makes progress on a lot of problems for the folks i represent, and with that in mind i support it. Do tore are things i can help you as we navigate this crisis, please dont hesitate to reach out my office. And as always, it is an honor to represent you. Today we finder, ourselves on a precipice. We must act swiftly in response to the pandemic ravaging our country, and the economic downturn which ranks as the worst in u. S. History. It is imperative we pass this legislation to deliver desperately needed relief to the American People, healthcare workers, Small Businesses and state and local governments. The unvarnished truth is this. Things will get worse, and fast. It is critical to bolster the Health Care System now. Over 150 billion dollars are included in this bill to provide Health Care Workers with protective equipment, secure lifesaving ventilators and funding for research and treatment. A key to slowbe the spread of this pandemic. It has hurled millions of americans into Unemployment Rate in this legislation, you will find a massive expansion of Unemployment Insurance to help americans weather the storm until they can return to work. All americans will receive direct payments of up to 1200 for individuals making under 75,000 a year, and 2400 for married couples earning under 150,000 per year. 350 billion will be made available to ensure Small Businesses dont collapse. Small businesses will be able to receive lowinterest loans and relief and paid leave for government contractors. We must ensure employers remain afloat as we confront the pandemic. In the absence of federal leadership, state and local governments have been instrumental in slowing the spread of covid19. This has come at a cost to their local budgets and local service. We have included 150 billion to address funding shortages in our state and local governments related to the pandemic. Even though this bill is the largest stimulus package in the history of our nation, it will not be enough. The pandemic will outlast these funds, and we must be unflinching and our commitment to provide relief to the American People. It is our responsibility. It is our duty. Meetople are struggling to the demands of their bills, put food on the table, and wondering what life will be like in the wake of the coronavirus. During these times, federal support is so necessary, uplifts our nation and gives support to families who are struggling. I am going to vote for this legislation because it provides immediate relief to American Families and workers on Small Businesses to make sure they survive. However, our work is not done. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we will continue to look for ways to support our country in the months ahead. Crisis wes time of will uplift our families, workers and businesses and america will emerge stronger than ever. I am in my office here in washington, about to head down to the floor to vote for the cares act. This is a stressful, unprecedented time in our history. We are experiencing a Public Health crisis like none before. It has pushed every resource in every community to its limit, and that is why i am proud to support the cares act. This act will get resources to to provide uninsured benefits to those who have lost their jobs, and get resources to Small Businesses and employers, because we need to make sure that people have jobs to come back to when we emerge from this crisis. I am proud that this package includes direct cash payment to individuals who may be struggling to make ends meat. Not only that, provides direct aid to our state and local districts, school and this is a package that is intended to make sure that we are all standing tall. In nevada we know how to come through crisis by working together. We came through the 2008 recession better and stronger than before. We came through october 1, better and stronger than before. I am confident that we will get through this together. My job in congress is not over, and our job as a community is not over. You must still remain vigilant. Wash your hands, prep social distancing, if you feel ill, stay out of crowds of 10 and more, because this crisis will only end when the threat of the coronavirus ends. Thank you for everything we have you have done and together we have we will get through this. We will continue to fight to make sure that nevada needs the resources that we need. Congressman dr. Raul ruiz. Ourcoronavirus has changed lives, hospitals are being overwhelmed, businesses are closing, and the American People are anxious of giving getting covid19 or losing a loved one to the disease. Workers are asking when they will be able to go back to work, how will i be able to pay my bill. Small Business Owners are asking if my business can stay afloat. In the 36th district, i have heard from single mothers worried about how they will pay their rent, workers who have been laid off and wondering how they will put food on the table, and small Business Owners who cannot afford to pay their employees or their rent. That is why we must pass the coronavirus aid relief and Economic Security act immediately. The bipartisan cares act will help American Families, workers, and businesses through this tumultuous time by providing 1200 in direct payments to individuals and 2400 dollars to families. And 500 for every child. Expanding Unemployment Insurance benefits to match the average paycheck of furloughed workers, providing 377 billion in relief for Small Businesses and 200 billion in our hospitals, health care infrastructure, and research, amongst other things. By passing this bill, we are telling the Small Business owner, help is on the way. We are telling the healthcare workers that we support you. We are telling the single mother, now unemployed, that we are fighting for you, and together, we will get through this. The American People need a comprehensive, whole of government response to keep our nation safe. That is why i urge the house to immediately and unanimously passed the act to help fight the and providee virus, Financial Security to families and businesses, and ultimately, save lives.
