Communities back at home. In tennessee our city from one corner to another they are getting back to that daily routine. Many of the businesses were able to improvise their way through the early o weeks of lockdown ad now they are finding what they are calling their new normal, the new process. Some of them received emergency loans. Others became one of the more than 80,000 Small Businesses and selfemployed workers who were able to take advantage of the paycheck protection program. But no matter how hard they work or how smart their plans are, we noted in thknow that in the ende going to lose a lot of our favorite neighborhood stops. Its really tough out there. Some of those businesses are already gone and that is going to happen in spite of the unprecedented investment that the federal government working with our state and local government has made into our business and healthcare sectors making certain that people are able to stay afloat and bridging from that rescue to a Business Restart and bridging loan to recovery. As we saw this week, the more washington spends, the more washington focus drifts away from emergency measures and rescue and it doesnt go to a restart or recovery. What does it do quite a ghost and how can we use the crisis to grow the government, how can we use the crisis to take away a little bit more of your freedom. We passed a 300 trillion spending package that they used as a vehicle for a lot of their projects. We heard about the bailouts, unsustainable environmental mandates, fundamental changes to tax policies. It was sold as being a safety net that will never see the light of day here in the senate but it might not be a bad idea just to put it on the floor. It is disrespectful of people that are hurting. Its disrespectful of Small Businesses that they have become a bargaining chip for the leftleaning socialists wish list. Thats what they think of you. When you walk down main street and see the shuttered business thats what they think of you. They can use you to get what they want. In fact, we have been pretty busy focusing on bipartisan efforts that will help put a post pandemic future something that will bring relief and clarity to the american people, not things like a liberal socialist. Heres what iv one ive heard t about especially this weekend for all the moms and dads that are out there that are wondering about how safe their childs image and data is in the virtual classroom. This is something that ive had lots of questions about also, how do you protect your virtual end of last week i put a Bipartisan Group of my colleagues and asked the ftc to do th a deep dive into how the h industry collects the stores your childs data and to make childrens Online Privacy protection stronger. The day would offer incentives to the physical companies to bring the operations back home this would create thousands of jobs and it would help secure the pharmaceutical supply chain. We are focusing on these things because recovery is going to require more than a blank check. What is local, state, federal officials struggling to balance the position of Community Health with the needs of a struggling economy. Also regulatory constrains last week i had a number of my colleagues asked majority leader mcconnell and minority leader schumer to include a statutory changes in the next round of relief legislation that would reduce the red tape and the other requirements that could and would inevitably if we take a look at these regulations and to strip away those that serve no real purpose there is 1. 9 trillion for most and encourage investment that is 1. 9 trillion. What a is the purpose of all of the regulations, do they help . If we didnt need it then why do we need it now . What is the actual cost tomu business, to communities, to local governments of this regulation . Companies go through the restart. Is this something that is going to speed up the process or something that is going to slowe the process or something that is going to be so cost prohibitive that the Small Business Manufacturing Company willt just throw their hands up and say i give up. I encourage us all to join in this effort to create an environment that will support a full economic recovery. I yield the floor. We lost a great statesman and former senator tom coburn of oklahoma. A family physician who delivered more than 4,000 babies, he was known as doctor tom and oklahoma. But in washington, he was called doctor though because of his fierce opposition to add more red ink to the national debt. Having served ten years in the senate before retiring in 2014 the year i was elected i never had the honor to
