NEW BEDFORD — Open door. Wash hands. Take off clothes. Shower. Run a load of laundry. Wash hands again. Rinse face.
This is the daily routine of Jeffrey Martin, 30, of New Bedford when he arrives home from a long day at Stop and Shop. Martin works as a grocery clerk and is responsible for stocking shelves, unloading palettes and changing displays. He is constantly on the floor surrounded by bustling customers, sometimes traveling in the wrong one-way direction. Although he doesn't interact with customers at the register, he may bump into one or two during his shift. Because of this, Martin takes extra precautions and scrubs down before greeting his family.
