This is the way to do it. An additional 20 to 30,000 soldiers and airmen that if requested could be brought in. Devastated. Liz President Trump and the first lady in texas serving firsthand the destruction from Hurricane Harvey. Theyre scheduled to depart austin texas this hour. We will bring that to you and now this, a death toll mounting, 15 now dead including a Houston Police officer drowned in his car while on the way to work and an estimated 50 billion in damage, 30,000 people now in shelters. The downpour only half way over. Words like unprecedented do not capture the severity of the situation and harvey is now heading towards louisiana and to north korea the white house says all options now on the table after north korea shot a missle over japan late yesterday. The safe haven trade, the russia safety trade now on in the market. Welcome to risk reward im elizabeth macdonald. President trump now in austin, texas with the first lady after surveying the damage in southeast texas. The president s visit had critics complaining but texas gave him a warm welcome. President trump thank you, everybody. Thank you. [applause] President Trump thank you, everybody. Thank you. [applause] liz total rainfall for Tropical Storm harvey hitting a record 50 inches is now the worst Tropical Storm to ever hit texas in history. Flooding in houston at historic levels. The downpour keeps coming, an area the size of Lake Michigan now under water. Some regions could see two more feet of rain. That estimated rainfall, it would fill 2 million olympic swimming pools and now this, two key reservoirs call the Addicks Reservoir and the Barker Reservoir sit just outside houston. Theyre topped out and theyre spilling over for the First Time Ever threatening subdivisions there and mandatory evacuations now ordered in South Houston as a levy there in brazos it breached, authorities tweeting out to residents get out now to the evacuees the george r. Brown Convention Center in houston filled to capacity more than 9,000 people there the race to help is on. This as americas first largest city hit with the deluge. It is a city that opened its arms wide in generosity and charity to Hurricane Katrina from louisiana 12 years ago and now this tragedy a Houston Police officer drowned in his car while on the way to work. Its raising the death toll to 15. This as the storm is on track to circle out and then back making landfall again east of houston. Now, estimates of the economic losses was at 30 billion yesterday, 42 billion and its rising toward 50 billion. That number is expected to increase and the east coast maybe hit with gas and fuel shortages, floods in texas disrupting the Colonial Pipeline thats the biggest fuel pipeline in the u. S. It serves the entire east coast. Its called the Mississippi River fuel pipeline. This as Corporate America and sports teams are pitching into help. Look at home depot, walmart, lowes. The Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys all donating 1 million each in goods and services. Now google, apple, amazon, United Airlines also stepping up as well. Lets get to Hillary Vaughn on the ground in the thick of things in kingwood, texas with the latest on the flooding. Hillary . Reporter liz i want to point out whats happening behind me. Its taken about 15 men to turn this boat and load it to get it out of here. The reason why were seeing bigger and bigger boats is because the current is getting stronger and stronger. This neighborhood backs up to a river and weve been told, i talked to the sheriffs deputy. He says his boat capsized and hit a light poland he was being taken away from the current or with the current, and he actually needed to be rescued. He said he thought for a moment he was just going to be gone, with the river, down to the current so thats why were seeing massive boats that require all these people to guide them out. This neighborhood in particular, weve seen hundreds and hundreds of rescues from rescue teams here, theres multiple apartment buildings that back up to this river. On the main road in town center, were told that the water is as high as nine feet and in these apartment complexes, the water is rising two to three floors high forcing people to evacuate. I want to queue up video that we got from the neighborhood just half a mile down from here. Youre going to see houses that are water is half way, filling up the house, and its remarkable video so we could play that and the people we talk to, every Single Person we asked who rescued you, was it a volunteer, was it the coast guard and ive been told every person i talked to a volunteer team rescued them, so it really is all hands here and its been remarkable the effort that weve seen from these guys as they try to get these boats out, fill them with as many people as their boat can hold, bring them back in. The water is treacherous. Its so high that there are a lot of hazards underneath. Fire hydrants, mailboxes, other things that are catching on the bottom of these boats, capsizing some. One of them a hole ripped in the bottom of it. That crew had to be rescued as well so this is not only a dangerous situation for those people who were still inside but its also a dangerous situation for the people going to get them we had five Different Military Task Force Commands leave from here to go out and get more people, people are still there. The rain is continuing to pour down so theyre trying to do this as fast as possible of course until it gets dark because once its dark, theres really no way to see around for civilian boats. It would just all have to be military and other Police Forces to be able to get people, so these volunteers are working as fast as they can to get as many people out of harms way. Liz . Liz this is such a dangerous situation. Thank you so much, hillary and please be safe. Now, to harveys hard hits. Hard hitting rather the u. S. Energy sector harvey now forcing the nations Largest Oil Refinery in port arthur, texas to cut production by at least 40 due to flooding, and the east coast may face gas shortages. Thats the warning. Floods in texas now disrupting the flow of gas and the Colonial Pipeline thats the biggest fuel pipeline in the united states. It serves the entire east coast. Its so big and important its called the Mississippi River fuel, with more on the latest phil flynn. Were coming into its good to see you by the way phil. Thank you. Liz were coming into the colder months whats your analysis on whats going on . Reporter right now this is a disaster. The worst Case Scenario for the east coast you did not want to hear and this is going to cause a big spike in gasoline prices. This is going to hurt the average american. Theyre going to see these costs go up. Hopefully they will be able to bring it back online but looking at the pictures we just saw, the devastation its going to be very difficult and now were hearing about a new problem you just had someone else talking about the shell oil fields and how in texas theyre under water right now and reports that the initial shutdown of production in those fields might be underestimated that we could see a Million Barrels of oil of production shutin and now theres a question as to how quickly they can bring these shell fields back online. Shell Oil Production is relatively new. Its a new process and weve never experienced anything like this before, and a lot of producers im getting different stories. Some people feel that the production from these wells that have been flooded out may not get back to their previous capacity ever. Others are saying no dont worry about it. Its not that bad but the answer is i dont think anybody knows, because weve never seen anything like this in the shale patch. Liz phil lets put this in context. Correct me if im wrong. Oil production is about 10 of daily production if its 9. 8 millionbarrels a day youre talking a Million Barrels. How much of the nat gas is it half and how much will gas prices go up. Could they go up some estimates were a quarter. Will gas prices go up what 0. 50 now what do you think . Reporter gasoline prices, the Colonial Pipeline stays down we could see 0. 50 a gallon rise especially when it starts seeing those shortages. That will eventually bring prices back down because people arent going to be paying 0. 50 a gallon more. They pes regoing to cut back and as far as natural gas thats another issue. So far the market has been relatively steady. Theyre trying to balance the fact were going to see significant demand destruction without a lot of electricity usage being used but over the long run that whole back end production and the fact that natural gas supplies are relatively tight above the five year average versus some of the other products means we could see higher heating bills because of the storm next winter as well. Liz its a great point. If the u. S. Wants to be self sufficient in oil gas and get away from opec, weve got to fix this arthritic infrastructure and protect it down there. Thank you phil flynn, appreciate appreciate. Reporter absolutely. Liz as the president visits texas, the media heading out on President Trump for going there claiming your visit was a costly distraction. Here is a washington post. Mr. President the flood victims should come first not your photo op, but while the media was again criticizing the president texas victims seemed thankful and appreciative. Lets take a listen. President trump thank you, everybody. [applause] President Trump thank you. Thank you everybody. [applause] President Trump we love you, youre special, were here to take care and its going well and i want to thank you for coming out. Were going to get you back and operating immediately. Liz lets get to Amanda Edward edwards, houston councilmember working on ee vehicle wageses. Many think amanda will be the next mayor of the city. She joins me now from the Convention Center. Good to see you, amanda. Reporter good to see you. Im not sure about that. Im just right now trying to do my job and trying to help people there are a lot of people in the city of houston who need support right now. Liz amanda, what do you need reporter also make sure that we need to make sure were getting resources down to the city of houston. Those resources can be financial in nature or also supplies. As it relates to those financial resources, of course you can always donate to the red cross, red cross. Org, or to the Greater Houston Community foundation, its the Hurricane Harvey relief fund setup by the city of houston and Harris County jointly. Those are the areas in which we can direct people especially those from the outside to be able to support hustonians as we rebuild region. Weve got a lot of rebuilding to do Going Forward so getting that support is really critical. Liz amanda, tell the viewers what youre seeing in the Convention Center. Thats the same Convention Center that opened its arms wide to Hurricane Katrina victims. The generosity and charity there what are you seeing there . Last time when katrina hit the local utility ran the operations , people in the military ran it. It was quite an operation. It had its own daycare center, its own little medical clinic. What are you seeing inside the Convention Center now, the same operation . Reporter inside the Convention Center, there are plenty of people coming in as volunteers, both in terms of houston januaries as well as people from outside as well. We have a litany of different resources being brought in, clothing, were getting toiletries, people are being served food, blankets, pillows, changes of clothes, socks and the things that you would expect , phone chargers even, things that you would expect people to need after theyve evacuated their homes and were seeing that. Were also seeing a very generous spirit. Were seeing people who are coming in with a lot of grace despite the fact they have evacuated what they know to be home, theyre coming in exhibiting a tremendous amount of patience and being very cooperative and so were very thankful and appreciative not only to the volunteers who have come in but also those that have been evacuated from their homes for coming in with such grace and being so respectful of each other in a time that is very stressful. Liz you know, amanda, oftentimes when a disaster like this happens, people can feel ignored. They feel hurt if the media ignores them. I mean, that happened when baton rouge was under water with flooding last year. Baton rouge, louisiana when candidate trump went there the locals were grateful because they got the media to focus on them, but those people no longer felt ignored. They felt the media is focused on us now were getting help. When the president visits does the media stand up and Pay Attention and more help comes in thats the case in past disaster s, right . Reporter i could tell you what the people here at the Convention Center and the places that ive seen outside of the Convention Center around the city what theyre looking for is support. Theyre not looking for anything else but that. They want to make sure they remain safe their families remain together and they get the resources that we need. Right now, i think thats the central focus we all should have in terms of making sure that people are getting support so whatever platforms are available to extend that desire for people to get support, i think thats what we should be taking advantage of and utilizing. Liz amanda weve got some compelling footage from our very over jeff flock who was in houston today. Roll tape. This is the kitchen. We can move that a little bit higher. See, we actually just cooked a meal saturday night and were in the process of getting out. This is what peoples homes all over houston look like. I mean, this is one. Youre getting a first look here but thousands of people, right . Reporter exactly. I put what i could on the countertops thinking it would be high enough but the water is still rising so i wouldnt be surprised if half this room was further under water later on especially with water still coming out. Reporter that just broke through, that berm just broke through. I left saturday night at around midnight almost. There was no water in the house. The garage was slowly starting to fill up first and you know, i came back early sunday morning and it was already water breached in the house. Liz now amanda you may not have been able to see that shot. It was a man standing in three feet of water in his own kitchen youre in the middle of so many families who literally have been ripped out of their homes in the middle of their daily existence leaving everything behind. What is the mood right now in the Convention Center . Reporter right now, its that theres a grateful spirit i think that people are glad to be in a safe space where theyre getting the immediate needs met in terms of food, clothing, shelter and the like and so making sure that people are also having an opportunity to connect with family, friends, those that they, loved ones theyre concerned about. Certainly thats something that were trying to provide as well. Not only is there places for people to go like the Convention Center but there are also smaller locations across the city. Weve opened up Multi Service centers for example, as temporary emergency shelters, so people can be dry and have an opportunity to regroup on a temporary basis but what were looking for in terms of making sure that people know that there is a safe place for them to go and that we continue to get support from the outside as well as the inside and weve got a tremendous amount of volunteers who are greeting people. In fact i just talked to a young lady, a little girl actually a third grader who indicated to me that she was here and her contribution to helping out was playing with some of the other kids. Liz houston reporter theres many ways in which people are lending their helping hand and people feel supported. Liz houston councilmember Amanda Edwards in the middle of george r. Brown Convention Center now pushing on 10,000 evacuees coming into that Convention Center. Thank you so much amanda. Really appreciate it. Coming up we are going to show you this video. An attendee pepper sprayed and beaten at sundays berkeley rally. Liz lets get a check of the money the market is shaking off earlier losses as north korea fears fade, markets were rattled yesterday over growing tensions with north korea after north korea shot another missle. This time over japan late yesterday. It put japan on high alert. The Trump Administration is again saying that the white house stance on north korea has not changed. In a statement saying all options are on the table. This as south korea staged a live fire drill to simulate the destruction of north koreas leadership dropping eight heavy bombs near its northeastern border with north korea in a display of what south korea calls overwhelming force. China now warning the situation is at a Tipping Point approaching crisis. Lets take a check of defense stocks, raytheon, Lockheed Martin l3 technologies all ending the day up in the green. Lets bring in retired Lieutenant Colonel tony shafer, with the London Center for policy research. Colonel afternoon. Liz what was your reaction when you heard that the North Koreans have shot a missle over japan . Colonel theyre just wanting trouble. Its like fortunately for us, we have Great Technology so the japanese to watch for this thing during the boost phase. You can tell within seconds where its going, so a decision im sure i dont know this i didnt talk to folks at the pentagon but im pretty sure i know how the process works. Within the first 30 to 40 seconds, you have a pretty good idea of where its going and then decisions are made within about a minute about do we do something or not and because in the mid phase they can already tell it was not going to hit anything. The decision this time as the others was to let it go, but theres two things that i see going horribly wrong. One of these things hits Something Like japan, like guam that when the North Koreans may not intend and is going to be a military reaction. Secondly, should one of these things go into an area where we believe they need to be shot down, it will be shot down, so this continued provocation by the North Koreans is going to end up with someone getting hurt and i think its going to be the North Koreans. Yes . Liz colonel im sorry so you just explained why that missle was not shot down because they were tracking the trajectory of it. What if in fact it did hit japan what would the reaction have been . Colonel i think theres three things on the table. First a one for one force option where basically, you hit the launch site. That is to say that okay, youre going to do this or make sure you cant do it again and that would be measured. A measured response and again this would be first time in a long time a military response but again liz were talking about weve said clearly and a military response is on the table. Secondly it could be a response which is beyond simply one for one something expanded to go after a more juicy if you will military target in the north. I dont know what that would be but if i didnt know i couldnt say but there could be some level of escalation. Third it could be a combination of one and two. Taking out the site, going after something bigger. The concern obviously is soul. The idea we dont want to jeopardize it which is is essentially a hostage city so there are military optioned that are looked at on the table and should a missle shot from north korea hit something of interest and hit in natural territory, there will be a military response. Liz switching gears, President Trumps oldest son donald trump jr. Will sit down for a transcribed interview with the Senate Judiciary committee. Investigators continue to dig into his attendance at the 2016 meeting where he was prop used russian information on the Hill Hillary Clinton campaign. So hes going to be interviewed and the russian Conspiracy Theory has not been in the headlines where does this go . Colonel two places. First im still trying to figure out what exact law was potentially broken here. I have yet to talk to any legal scholar or lawyer who can say what law was broken. Secondly along this line, liz if you or i were offered information about any president ial candidate as a citizen you are obligated to try to listen because the last thing youll want no matter what is a foreign power having information adversary information, Bad Information negative information used to blackmale a candidate so in my judgment donald trump jr. Was obligated to actually her out any Bad Information that may have existed on hillary clinton, both from the fact that his dad was running against her, this is politics, and secondly just as a citizen, trying to understand this, so i dont liz do you really think he was doing it for the interest of the country . Colonel i believe it was interest for his dad absolutely and the two can be, the two did not have to be mutually exclusive. Liz okay. Colonel in this case i think the two were simultaneously of interest, so with that said, i think its good that mr. Donald trump jr. Is going through. Liz colonel shafer, we love having you on. Thanks for your service to the country. Coming uptake a look at this video, a peaceful attendee is pepper sprayed, beaten at that sunday rally at berkeley. Last anarchist went after him and that man is here to talk about it. Lets get back to houston right now over 9,000 evacuees at the george r. Brown Convention Center in houston texas. One of the main organizers with me next, dont go away. And 6 is greater than one. Flonase sensimist. Your parents have been ittalking about you for years. Theyre all about me saving for a house, or starting a college fund for my son. Actually, i want to know what youre thinking. Knowing that the most important goals are yours. We just got rescued now, so this is the first time we even seen how much water it has been, so its crazy. Its devastating. I have never experienced anything like this. I didnt even imagine that it was going to be this catastrophic like this. This is horrible. Liz horrible. You heard it. Lets get right back to the george r. Brown Convention Center and now over 9,000 evacuees at that Convention Center in houston. It is filled to capacity and again, this is the same center that opened its arms to Hurricane Katrina victims. Lets set the scene and bring in grace rodriguez she is the co founder of station houston. It is a hub for tech entrepreneurs and shes working there, grace what a scene there. Tired, waterlogged. You know, theres a big Police Presence we know but some women even going into labor and having babies in there. Can you tell us whats going on inside there now . Well right now, there are a lot of people just looking for help and looking at how to help. Weve had so many volunteers come to the george r. Brown that were telling them go back home or come back later because we actually need more volunteers from 7 00 p. M. To 7 00 a. M. Liz grace . Medical help we can use all the time so if you are a doctor or a nurse, you could provide some kind of medical assistance we could definitely use that. Liz grace, what an outpouring of support in houston you look at what happened in new orleans, even the mayor went to prison for corruption there, there was problems with police and the way those politicians handled that crisis was roundly criticized but houston really has it going on. It is such a sharp operation there thats going on right now at the Convention Center and even the Tech Industry in houston stepped up. Can you tell us about that . Yeah, well first, i want to say our government officials have been the best. Theyve been keeping in touch with everybody through twitter, through periscope, responding to our requests for more information so that we can help disseminate that. One of the great things about houston is its common the and the people here are beautiful and willing to help with whatever needs there are. Our Tech Community rallied around creating a website with resources and its called flood. Care that people can find a map started by a local law matthews houston harvey rescue. Com and if you need help if you need help with evacuation you can go there, if you want to help with evacuation you can go there as well. Theres a phone number on the website to coordinate with mobile officials. If you have a boat, canoe or kayak if you want to help evacuate some people that is on flood. Care as well. Theres also a map of local shelters and its constantly updated by this team of tech volunteers and honestly our Tech Community, entrepreneurs, start up are really developing solutions very quickly. A lot of these resources just popped up overnight, so were still working on them to try to get help the people as quickly as possible and really make sure pep have the right information and the current information. Liz okay, grace rodriguez co founder of station houston. Boy when a disaster hits, it shows how much people love and care for their own hometown, their own city of houston. Grace thank you so much we want you to come back on really appreciate you. Thanks again. Thank you. Liz okay from the best of humanity to the worst. Take a look at this video. My next guest was the one being pepper sprayed at sundays berkeley rally. He was attacked by black clad anarchists. Hes joey gibson and he says he was only talking about peace and promoting peace. Hes here to talk to you about his experience. Dont touch that dial. Stay right there. Us. Especially for my precious new grandchild. Its whooping cough. Every family member, including those around new babies, should talk to their doctor or pharmacist about getting vaccinated. Tap one little bumper and up go your rates. What good is having insurance if you get punished for using it . For drivers with accident forgiveness, Liberty Mutual wont raise your rates due to your first accident. Liberty mutual insurance. Liz okay were kind of taking you on a round trip from the story of texas Mother Nature to human nature at its best in texas, the best of humanity, outpouring of health for texans now to this. Human nature at its worst. Black clad Anarchist Group attacked at least five people including my next guest at sundays peaceful anticommunism antimarksism rally in berkeley, california. The founder of the Patriot Prayer group joey gibson who was pepper sprayed and beaten by those rioters. First of all joey are you okay . Oh, yeah im doing good. Unfortunately theres other people doing a lot worse. Pete one of the guys with me the guy in the red shirt got knocked by a 2 x 4 a pretty hard and other reporters and people beat really bad by a mob of basically thugs. Liz you cancel the rally. I think a day earlier there. Why . Were you worried about violence, and they showed up swinging anyway, right . Yeah, were concerned about san francisco. I cancelled san francisco. That was my rally. Berkeley was someone elses rally and iowa supposed to show up and speak but they basically took over the whole park so we couldnt get in so we decided instead of marching in with 400 people being aggressive we would march in with a couple people with their hands up and they just attacked us. They yelled natzi and its really weird whats going on in this country and i know they dont represent the left but the left is staying silent on this subject. Liz so joey youre with Patriot Prayers and also another person whose at that rally. Her name is amber cummings. Shes a transgender trump supporter and she too was behind the anticommunism rally and you both explicitly denounced racism but the thing is where were the cops . The law says in berkeley youre not allowed to wear masks at all or even behave like that so where were the cops . Well the problem is the cops are used by the mayor so its the mayors orders so a lot of the police want to go out and go out and help but they cant because the higher ups arent letting them so the mayor is using the police and using antif a to try to attack people who may be different from his message. Liz how do you know that about the mayor . Because the mayors the boss. Hes the one that gives the orders. The police have to. Thats the way it is all over country. Liz but thats opinion and speculation right . You dont know that for a fact, right . I know that the police chief has to answer to the mayor. So the mayors responsible always. Liz so many in the media lets get to the media they labeled you as far right and alt right but you let White Nationalists join your rallies. Do you . Absolutely not. One or two will show up at a march. We have 300 people, one White Nationalist will show up and people freak out but the example i give to liberals is when they go marching and then theyre peaceful and one anarchist shows up and starts burning things down breaking windows and its all the media focuses on and thats what im trying to do. Im trying to bring the moderate s together so we can get rid of the extremists and they didnt just call me a far right. They said im a white supremacist. We had three black speakers, two transgender and an asian, its not about what we look like. Its about whats on the inside and about growing as a country and growing spiritually. Liz its just astonishing. You cant even debate when people are swinging and throwing things. Joey gibson we want you to come back on the show and tell us more about whats going on. We really appreciate you thanks so much for coming on. Thank you. Liz United Technologies getting closer to a deal to buy Aerospace Manufacturer rockwell collins. Its a 20 billion deal. Its getting closer to that. It would create one of the biggest aircraft equipment maker s in the world. Lets take a look at the stocks, new United Continental also moving higher. Next a new report that the texas floods could bring the states next health challenge. Waterborne illnesses. Doc segal is on that and msnbc host accusing texas senator ted cruz being again held for Hurricane Sandy victims but all about help for Hurricane Harvey. Next youll hear the real story about what happened there, dont go away. Burns its way into your day. I hear you. When that pain makes simple errands simply unbearable. I hear you. I hear you because my dad struggled with this pain. Make sure your doctor hears you too. So folks, dont wait. Step on up. And talk to your doctor. Because you have places to go. And people who cant wait for you to get there. If you have diabetes and burning, shooting pain in your feet or hands. Step on up and talk to your doctor today. A lot of people are pointing out that you voted against aid for sandy after that catastrophic storm up in the northeast that package back in 2012 and theyre pointing at you saying youre asking for money now when you werent willing to help the people of the northeast what do you have to say to them . The accurate thing to say is that i and a number of others enthusiastically supported Hurricane Relief for sandy, Hurricane Relief and Disaster Relief has been a vital federal role for a long long time and it should continue. Liz okay, well d. C. And with the help of the media, are they going to box the harvey response with their usual gotcha politics you saw that on nbc host with texas ted cruz turning his back on Hurricane Sandy victims. Former hill after clinton aid adrian elrod joining me now. Good to be here. Liz the sandy bill was a pork storm that was the problem, a storm and ted cruz and it was a Christmas Tree of spending on fisheries in alaska, tens of billions did head toward Hurricane Sandy victims, right . Well look, ted cruz is absolutely not a hypocrite. In fact 36 senators voted against the sandy relief bill and the reason is you pointed out it was bills of dollars in goodies not related to sandy including amtrak, alaska fisheri es and the smithsonian so i dont find him to be a hypocrite. Lets help people but not go on a spending tree and we cant afford it and unfortunately thats the case and again unfortunately with harvey but the good thing is the democrats are going to give in and get the money out in a timely fashion. Liz adrian you can see why people start to get irritated by this because 15 people are dead and there are people being evacuated right lets back up. At that time then representative mike pence during superstorm sandy, he said we need to cut Government Spending to take care of disasters like katrina and now we have harvey here. Adrian youve been on this show so many times, youre done with the politics you want to see help for these people, right . Of course, absolutely and thats exactly why we need a clean spending bill giving aid, all of the aid to the victims of harvey. Everything that they need we need a clean spending bill on this because the bottom line is when you start to tack on these controversial measures, it does make it more difficult for members so we should not play politics here. This is not a democrat versus republican issue. This is getting these poor people in the greater houston area all the support they need. A lot of these folks dont have Flood Insurance because theyre in an area that was not supposed to be necessary for Flood Insurance so weve got to give them all the support they need. Its heart breaking watching these pictures an this should not a partisan issue. Liz you are both for a clean bill, cut it out just get the help. Lets switch gears. A florida professor fired. He tweeted out texans deserved Hurricane Harvey for supporting President Trump. His name is kenneth story a former university of tampa professor said, i do not believe in instant karma but this kind of feels like it for texas. Hopefully this will help them realize republicans do not care about them. He said hes since regretted the tweet and now hes been fired. Okay, again 15 people now dead, possibly more, tens of thousands evacuated and lost their homes rightful he was fired . Well look honestly who says this stuff . I mean in all reality nobody deserves a disaster like this believe it or not im actually a houston native. This is absolutely insane and its overthetop, trump derange ment syndrome that i expect from a leftist professor. Hes a visiting professor from the university of tampa and the state of florida went for trump as well and guess what else . Hurricane season is only half over. You might have a disaster hit florida as well. Dont play politics and dont say dumb stuff during a hurricane because real people are hurting and we have to keep them in mind. Liz dont mix politics with disasters right, adrian . Health insurers like United Health and humana closing the day mixed lets bring in dr. Mark segal on the Health Implications host texas flood. Good to be with you doc. Liz how are you . Liz so what should people be worried about . First thing is they should be worried about the fear and panic of rising waters because when youre afraid you take fewer precautions and if theres floodwaters there you may not realize that it could be contaminated and could pick up sewage water, you could have bacteria like ecoli. You could have salmonella and now the worst like colera really unlikely but you could have serious illnesses that make you very dehydrated and were starting toing to see that and then you look around for water, what can i drink . You can only drink Potable Water or bottled water and if you arent sure you have to bottle the water and that occurs when youre calm and thinking and if youre roaming around liz you ba ng into things below the surface of the water, get injured and get a wound infection so i want everybody listening to this to make sure they had a tetanus shot within the last 10 years. Liz what about hepatitis . Also hepatitis a is very common in a situation like this. Its too late to get a vaccine for it if youre there because it takes at least a couple months to work but hopefully if you are there and youve had the vaccine, otherwise you should be on the look out for hepatitis a, thats another problem but dehydration number one, injury number two and these infections you pick up from the waters very problematic. Liz lets get to the image many now have seen nursing home residents under water in dickin son, texas. They have since been safely evacuated. Now doctor should the elderly be concerned about prolonged exposure to floodwaters . Well absolutely because another problem is do you have your medicine . Do you have enough supply of medicine . Can you get to your proper healthcare that youre used to getting . Weve seen pictures of m. D. Anderson the streets are flooded all around. Are Cancer Patients going to get their care . The necessary integration of state, local and federal Healthcare Providers is crucial which is why its actually very very helpful that dr. Price, secretary of hhs called this a Public Health emergency at the beginning because that pools more resources in here. People that are isolated that cant get to their medicine big problems. 12,000 pharmacies are open but some are undersupplied. We need to get more supplies. Everyone should hold on to their medicine and make sure they have enough to get through this. Liz doctor this area is hope to a lot of alligators right and theres reports of floating around in floodwaters this is serious stuff lurking in the waters, right . Which is why you should stay out of the waters and why you shouldnt try to drive through the waters and why if youre exposed you have to, you cant contaminate yourself and dis infect and its why when you try to cleanup your home wear boots and gloves and if theres a fabric or an area not a hard surface get rid of it. Its going to be loaded with bacteria. Liz doc segal, love you come back soon. Well be right back. Dont go away. Liz tomorrow President Trump barn storing in missouri. That does it for us.
