Alberta Wildfire has issued a fire advisory for the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
The wildfire danger for the area is moderate, and they warn that high wind can cause extreme fire behavior and allow fires to spread easily.
With the fire advisory, all existing fire permits are still valid, but new permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, only for essential burning.
All burning, except for campfires, is prohibited if you don’t have a valid permit.
Alberta Wildfire reminds people to never leave their campfires unattended, and to soak, stir and soak again until cool to the touch to put them out.
