The Fort McMurray Catholic School District won’t pilot the provincial government’s draft K-6 curriculum.
After consultation with their board of trustees, staff and community, the decision was made not to pilot the draft curriculum for the 2021-22 school year.
The government of Alberta announced in March schools would soon focus on four themes: literacy, numeracy, citizenship, and practical skills.
However, it has received heavy backlash over the lack of alleged consultation, focuses, and more.
“We appreciate the fulsome review and recommendations provided by our curriculum review and senior leadership teams,” said Cathy Langmead, FMCSD Board of Education Chair.
