Garda arrested after failing roadside breath-test following crash

An off-duty Garda failed a roadside breath-test for alcohol after a crash in Cork city.
It happened at 5.30 on Saturday morning, when a car and a van collided at Silver Springs Hill.
The off-duty officer was the driver of the car, and he was arrested after failing the breath-test.
He was taken to Guranabraher Garda Station and later released without charge.
Gardai confirmed the incident in a statement.
“On December 19 2020 shortly after 5:30am Gardaí attended at the scene of a traffic collision involving a car and van. The driver of the car, an off-duty member of An Garda Síochána, was arrested having failed a roadside breath test for alcohol,” the statement said.
