Evening, former editor of the sun, Kelvin Mackenzie , and the sun, Kelvin Mackenzie, and the former labour mp stephen pound, who i just found out once had an actual fight years ago. So great. Fantastic. Anyway remember we want to hear from you. The remember we want to hear from you. The email remains the same. It is male mogg at gb news dot com. Were going to get stuck right in after your headlines from polly middlehurst. From polly middlehurst. Patrick thank you. Good evening to you. Well, our top story tonight, the Fire Brigades Union has labelled the bibby stockholm migrant barge a potential death trap and requested an urgent meeting with the home secretary about overcrowding and fire exit concerns. The fpas assistant concerns. The fpas assistant general secretary says its a cruel and reckless approach to the welfare of Asylum Seekers , a the welfare of Asylum Seekers, a government source told gb news that labour and the unions are trying to block the use of the vessel to house Asylum Seekers, calling their attempts a betrayal of the country and of the british people. It could now be week before migrants be next week before any migrants are to the vessel, which are moved to the vessel, which is currently moored off portland in dorset in the united states. In dorset in the united states. The former president donald trump, who is facing four new criminal charges, will appear in court in washington , dc court in washington, dc tomorrow. Hes accused of conspiring to defraud the us by preventing congress from certifying joe bidens election victory in 2020. This is the third time in four months Donald Trumps been charged as he campaigns to regain the presidency. Mr trumps son donald jr spoke to nigel farage a short time ago. He questioned the timing of the indictment. The timing of the indictment. I dont believe any of this has anything to do with january 6th. If it did and if january 6th. If it did and if january 6th was everything that they said, why. 7 why nigel did they said, why. 7 why nigel did they wait two and a half years to charge him. 7 i wait two and a half years to charge him . I mean, the people that were there that did those they were charged with that day i labour is calling on the government to help evacuate british citizens from niger following a military coup in the country. Other countries like france and italy have been flying their citizens out of the west african country after the army overthrew the president last week. Well, the foreign last week. Well, the foreign secretary, james cleverly, has confirmed the governments top priority is helping british nationals try to flee the country. A man has been found country. A man has been found guilty of murdering his ten month old stepson. Jacob crouch month old stepson. Jacob crouch was found dead in his cot at his derbyshire home in december 2020. He suffered rib fractures and had visible bruises as well as internal injuries. Craig crouch has been convicted of murder and three counts of Child Cruelty. The babys mother, cruelty. The babys mother, gemma barton , was also found gemma barton, was also found guilty of Child Cruelty and causing or allowing her sons death. This is. Death. This is. Gb news. Have we been lied to about the wildfires that we saw unfolding across the continent in recent weeks . I was out there myself in greece as it was all unfolding. Hence bit of a tan unfolding. Hence bit of a tan and while the british media obsessed over the question of Climate Change, the greek media was far more concerned that the source of the fires was arson. The bbc began presenting maps like this fire danger forecast for europe on the 19th of july. Indeed the map does a good job of making it look like europe itself was already on fire. Well, on this very day, britains peak temperature reached 22 c and a low of 41, which doesnt quite match up, doesit which doesnt quite match up, does it . With those molten lava does it . With those molten lava tones used by the beeb on this programme, jacob has covered some of the other hysterical claims made in this period in an attempt to terrify the public. Everything from dodgy heat maps to misleading guardian articles to misleading guardian articles to overemphasising the worst Case Scenario forecasts from the United Nations. Well, who could forget . Of course , the time that forget . Of course, the time that the guardian wrote an obituary for the Great Barrier reef . But it was only last year that scientists revealed that two thirds of the reef has the highest coral coverage since records began, apparently worth renowned statistician Bjorn Lomborg of the Copenhagen Consensus Centre has pointed out that there are some Serious Problems with the prevailing narrative that Climate Change has set the world on fire. Here are some points that you wont find reported much in the media that seems to be consumed by climate hysteria. So al gore might call them inconvenient truths. Now, since the early truths. Now, since the early 2000 and when 3 of the worlds land caught on fire, the area burned annually has been in decline. This is according to the Royal Society. In 2022, the world hit a new record low of 2. 2 total burned area. The 2. 2 total burned area. The World Leading Authority on Climate Change. The united naļ¬ons Climate Change. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the ipcc. To you and i does not attribute the areas burned by wildfires to Climate Change. Whilst wildfires are slightly up in the americas , they are actually down in the rest of the world. And even so, last year, american fires burned less than one fifth of the average burn. Back in the 1930. Average burn. Back in the 1930. Well, look , lo and behold, the well, look, lo and behold, the greek government has officially now blamed the recent wildfires on arson or negligence. None of on arson or negligence. None of this is to say that Climate Change isnt a very real and serious problem. And there are things that human beings can do to help deter its damaging effects on the planet. But the point is, my point is really that we have to treat the issue seriously and not hysterically. Being hysterical and propagandistic will do more harm than good to the cause of environmentalism because the pubuc environmentalism because the public will find out that they are sometimes being lied to. Are sometimes being lied to. Just look at the actions of Just Stop Oil polling shows that the pubuc stop oil polling shows that the public are clearly not on their side and some members of the pubuc side and some members of the public have demonstrated their discontent with the group quite forcefully. Eco forcefully. But this eco hysteria has not only infected the media, as evidenced by the bbcs dodgy heatmaps or sky newss north korean style Climate Change programmes. But its infected our political its also infected our Political Parties. Just just look on the front page of the mail today. Just stop Oil Activists just stop. Oil activists have been secretly taped boasting about how their tactics have helped to shape Labour Party Policies insofar as partys policies insofar as the partys opposition to the new north sea gas and oil licence aces. Its no secret that the same man who funds Just Stop Oil dale vince has also provided a lot of funding for the labour party. But its not just the labour party is it . Its the conservative party too. And this hysteria trickling down into hysteria is trickling down into policy. We are on track to ban gas boilers on all new builds by 2025, despite the average heat pump costing more than 12 grand, net zero, policy is set to hit the property sector too. Landlords wont be able to rent properties if they dont have a Certain Energy performance rating. This will inevitably hit supply and could potentially make renting even more expensive. The ulez expansion is set to hit the poorest in society when it is implemented at the end of the month. Its clear that the worst off cant afford to upgrade their cars that will be hit by charges. And of course we have the disastrous upcoming ban on all new petrol and diesel cars by 2030. Weve said it before on this programme at least. Jacob has apparently the cheapest electric car on the market is around 20 grand, so its a snip is it . And its not a snip is it . And perhaps that why business perhaps that is why business secretary Kemi Badenoch has reportedly back on reportedly been pushing back on the government plans to fine Car Manufacturers for missing electric vehicle targets. So we have climate hysteria based on quite selective data that is being pumped out by some useful idiots in the media at times who are happy to overtly lie , to are happy to overtly lie, to whip up fear and that then means that Political Parties enact unaffordable and at times unachievable policies put forward by eco zealots. And those policies have to be paid for by the taxpayer. And that, for by the taxpayer. And that, for by the taxpayer. And that, for me is the key bit at the end there. Ultimately, it is the taxpayer that loses. I think we need to start calling this stuff out more. Otherwise as you may well all skint way before you well all go skint way before you all burn to death. But there we go. Now even though mr rees mogg is off today, the email remains open , wide open for business. Open, wide open for business. Its mail. Margaret gbnews. Com. Let me know what you think. Im very pleased to say. Im joined in the studio by tom burke, who is the environmental policy adviser of erg , adviser and co founder of erg, the Climate Change think tank. Look, thank you very much. When i look at stats like this satellite showing since the early 2000, when 3 of the worlds land caught fire, that is down on that polar bear populations up, apparently. I look at it and think, why are we so hysterical . So hysterical . Well, i agree with you about some people being hysterical, but youre my prime candidate. But what just largely but what youve just largely recorded bunch of stuff recorded is a bunch of stuff that facts. They just that arent facts. They just arent facts. No, you show me where youve got them and ill arent facts. No, you show me wheyouuve got them and ill arent facts. No, you show me wheyou why got them and ill arent facts. No, you show me wheyou why theyreem and ill arent facts. No, you show me wheyou why theyre wrong. Ill tell you why theyre wrong. The Royal Society. Well, which was the fact it said, well, theyve got all of these here. No no, youve got what youve got. What youve got in you the script in front of you is the script that somebody said this. That says somebody said this. You have you dont have you dont have you dont have the document in front. Youve read youve what read a minute, youve read what the Royal Society says. Have research. You have research. Im not going derail this going to let you derail this conversation because this is what people you do, which what people like you do, which is instead of answering my question, are you attacking question, why are you attacking me . Now. But you are. Im not now. But you are. Youre talking about people like me im an zealot. Me as if im an eco zealot. Because what will try to because what you will try to do instead of the do is instead of having the conversation, will try to conversation, you will try to derail answer me this. Derail it. So answer me this. Well, youre again, talking to motive and why there to my motive and why was there such wildfires being such a focus on wildfires being the and Climate Change the cause and Climate Change being cause of the recent fires . Because actually, in greece, when actually was arson . Well when actually it was arson . Well because know what because actually, you know what you explain to me what you didnt explain to me what you didnt explain to me what you have explained to you should have explained to people always had people is weve always had arsonists have arsonists and arsonists have always called fires. Nothing new about and theres nothing new about that. Suddenly discovering and theres nothing new about that. Greeksidenly discovering and theres nothing new about that. Greeks discoverscovering and theres nothing new about that. Greeks discover thatering and theres nothing new about that. Greeks discover that some that greeks discover that some people absolutely people lit fires is absolutely not news. The fact that those fires took place all over the whole of the northern mediterranean and the way they have without people like have started without people like southern , they started southern well, they have started for reasons. Without for lots of reasons. Without people far as often do. They didnt they did that well. Well, i dont know what started all the fires. Lightning starts, lots of fires. Fires can starts, lots of fires. Fires can start people broken start because people have broken a and its just a piece of glass and its just caught. So there lots of are caught. So there are lots of are you willing to blame recent you willing to blame the recent wildfires in greece on Climate Change opposed to the change as opposed to the arsonists not arsonists who lit them . Im not blaming anything other than climate for change the scale of the wildfires that ruins so many peoples holidays , wreck their peoples holidays, wreck their holidays and will go on wrecking holidays and will go on wrecking holidays if dont do holidays if we dont do something Climate Change. Something about Climate Change. Now, fires start there now, why do fires start there are reasons why fires are lots of reasons why fires start. Happens with start. What happens with gasoline and lighters. But what was really different about this and which the bbc was actually right about , and which the bbc was actually right about, was to you right about, was to show you maps of scale of those maps of the scale of those fires, because that was totally unprecedented. Nobody seen unprecedented. Nobody had seen fires like this across the mediterranean before we saw it this year, which is not a surprise because it turned out that july was the hottest month recorded britain , molten lava that july was the hottest month reccwhen britain , molten lava that july was the hottest month reccwhen itbritain , molten lava that july was the hottest month reccwhen it was|in , molten lava that july was the hottest month reccwhen it was aboutolten lava that july was the hottest month reccwhen it was about 14en lava red when it was about 14 degrees. Well, i dont know what you were looking at, but ive seen ive seen yeah, ive seen the maps all through the bbc explaining weve got the explaining why weve got the worst i can remember. Worst july. I can remember. Frankly, weve had a terrible july. Ive hated it. Its been wet all the time. And that the explanation for that is because of the jet stream is of where the jet stream is going, blocking out highs from coming and giving us good weather. Okay. A decade ago in instrumentalists talking instrumentalists were talking about magnificent about australias magnificent great okay. The Great Barrier reef. Okay. The guardian , as i said there, wrote guardian, as i said there, wrote an for it. And then an obituary for it. And then this year scientists revealed two thirds of the Great Barrier reef highest reef shows the highest coral cover ever seen since records beganin cover ever seen since records began in 1985. Well , first of all, i would well, first of all, i would never justify the guardian from making mistakes any more than anybody else. What about about but what about what about that, mean, that was that, though . I mean, that was hysteria, wasnt it . Read the account i havent read the account youve got. You mentioned in your you mentioned your monologue, you mentioned bjorn ive known bjorn Bjorn Lomborg. Ive known Bjorn Lomborg for about 40 years. Think about ever get think about what ever you get from bjorn. Always look at from bjorn. You always look at all the things he didnt tell you the things hes you as well as the things hes picked up. You can make picked up. And you can make almost story sound plausible almost any story sound plausible if you pick and choose the bits and all bits that and leave out all the bits that actually make you think. Indication that its not good indication that its not dying, isnt it . Its dying, though, isnt it . If its got the highest coral, i honestly im not im not a climate respecter. People say that its i hear people say that its under stress. I hear reports, by the way, about florida, the reefs florida, are now reefs in florida, which are now dying. Dont whether dying. I dont know whether theyre not. Not hysterical. I mean, again, weve got things al terrifying things like al gores terrifying movie, the inconvenient truth, things like al gores terrifying mov know,3 inconvenient truth, things like al gores terrifying mov know,3 inc polariient truth, things like al gores terrifying mov know,3 inc polar beartruth, things like al gores terrifying mov know,3 inc polar bear numbers you know, the polar bear numbers have been increasing from 5 to 10,000in to 26,000 how. Now. Patrick is theyre exaggeration in the media about everything , including climate everything, including Climate Change. Yes, there is. But the people you should blame for that are the editors who print those documents. But this hysteria then leads to government policy, which then hits taxpayers in the pocket and it is ruining people. And people need to be more honest and coming out and saying, hang on a minute. When you are confronted with this, instead of with facts like this, instead of telling me, oh, well, you havent really this havent really read this document, when actually, shockingly, clearly shockingly, for you, i clearly have really got have and you havent really got answers it. People going answers for it. People are going skint because this kind of. Skint because of this kind of. Me give you an example of let me give you an example of just exactly what i mean. Very current, today. Exactly on current, right today. Exactly on the youve just picked the theme youve just picked up, philip of exchequer , chancellor of the exchequer, telling you that its going to cost trillion and cost us a trillion pounds and thats going be awful and thats going to be awful and terrible peoples bills to terrible for peoples bills to deal climate he deal with Climate Change. He doesnt tell you that, by the way. And spending that trillion pounds more than Ā£1 pounds will save more than Ā£1 trillion the money wed have trillion in the money wed have to spend buying fossil fuels to spend on buying fossil fuels and the rest. Doesnt and all the rest. He doesnt tell that it doesnt tell you that because it doesnt suit story. So you want to suit his story. So you want to be that youve got all be careful that youve got all the and not just the ones the facts and not just the ones that suit the case in the 1920s, about people were killed about 500,000 people were killed by annually. By weather disasters annually. In the 1920s, whereas thats in the 1920s, whereas in last the death in the last decade the death toll averaged just over 18,000. We not dying as a result of we are not dying as a result of Climate Change. Well, i didnt say we were, but loads people are. But loads of people are. And this is this is. Wait, sorry. Hang minute. No, no, sorry. Hang on a minute. No, no, no. I will not have this because. Because is why because. Because this is why people to just oil. People listen to Just Stop Oil. This is why accept things this is why people accept things like damage the like criminal damage on the street. People street. This is why people accept like youre going accept things like youre going to a heat pump. You to have to get a heat pump. You cant youre going to have to sell your car. Youre going to go because we think were go skiing because we think were going were going to die. Were told were going to die. Were told were going die. Well, i have to going to die. Well, i have to tell you, people dying. Tell you, people are dying. Much more confidence i have a much more confidence than the public of this country than the public of this country than you seem to have. And the only reason the reason the only reason about the reason the only reason about the reason the only are hearing only reason people are hearing whats because whats being said is because editors well, if editors print it. Well, if editors print it. Well, if editors print it. Well, if editors print it, you editors didnt print it, you wouldnt hear whats what happens all is editors happens too all often is editors think policy and also think government policy and also opposition policy. And the labour party policy. And its they are listening its because they are listening to alarmist, i would to climate alarmist, i would argue, now, everybody, climate right now, everybody, Climate Change of change committee, institute of Economic Affairs of the International Authority International Energy authority are telling us were not doing what on climate what we need to do on Climate Change. If they are making change. So if they are making Climate Policy, theyre not doing it. All doing a very good job of it. All right. Look, thank you very much. I have actually thoroughly enjoyed it. Been a good way enjoyed it. Its been a good way to show for what to start the show and for what its as well. We were its worth, as well. We were getting right before the getting on all right before the cameras started rolling. So there we are. You very, there we are. Thank you very, very have very much. Tremendous to have you show. Tom burke there you on the show. Tom burke there of course, the environmental policy founder of policy advisor and co founder of the e36, policy advisor and co founder of the e3g, the Climate Change think tank. Now remember, we want you, male want to hear from you, male mogg gbnews. Com. Coming up as new plans are revealed for the all welcome back. I am still not jacob rees mogg, but this is the state of the nation. Youve all been getting in touch with. Your thoughts . I believe so. Ive got some here. The emails in, allen says, i live in says, patrick, i live in portugal. Weve had less wildfires thank you wildfires than usual. Thank you for raising this. Yes. And also as well, can i just make a point that of these countries that some of these countries arent be that arent designed to be hot. That is they holiday is why they are holiday destinations. But there we go. Colin explain how colin says please explain how these red climate colin says please explain how these were red climate colin says please explain how these were not red climate colin says please explain how these were not oned climate colin says please explain how these were not on our limate colin says please explain how these were not on our screens maps were not on our screens last year. Has the end of our world suddenly happened this year . Think been year . I think theres been a massive increase in it. I think theres massive increase theres been a massive increase in and it is because in hysteria and it is because you a lot of often you end up with a lot of often quite loony people wearing orange, themselves to orange, glueing themselves to things, and saying that if you capital and saying that if you dont back their climate agenda, then you want babies to burn to death. And that is not fair. But it infiltrate policy it does infiltrate policy anyway. Just yesterday we were told government was told that the government was prepared more prisons prepared to build more prisons to accommodate prolific shoplifters because they deserve to be locked up. But then today , the ministry of justice has published new draft of published a new draft code of practise, which has been accused of soft justice, mainly of being soft justice, mainly because it sets out how police can with low level first can deal with low level first time offences. I take issue with low level. Its not low level. If you own a co op, is it . Or you own a corner shop and everyones nicking something all the time, but there is such a thing as a free lunch after all, because the minor offences list in includes possession in the draft includes possession of including cocaine of drugs, including cocaine and cannabis is also included. Are summary offences normally handled by magistrate shoplifting burglaries, minor thefts , criminal damage, thefts, criminal damage, assaults. Again, thats not a minor, is it though . Ministers have insisted that persistent offenders will face tougher sanctions under the new system. Shoplifting costs us around Ā£2 billion a year and the co op recently released figures showing police were not responding to more than 70 of call outs over serious crimes in its stores. Anti social behaviour is also up 35 year on yeah behaviour is also up 35 year on year. The list goes on. It comes amid a backlog of nearly 320,000 cases in the Magistrates Court and 61,000 waiting to go to crown court. And around 1000 crown court. And around 1000 hundred criminals could dodge jail this year alone because of a lack of prison cells. An analysis of Government Data also shows the promise to build more prisons another prisons has become another unfortunate planning unfortunate victim of planning permission. Unfortunate victim of planning pe|isission. Unfortunate victim of planning pe|is then. Unfortunate victim of planning pe|is the new code of practise so is the new code of practise for police just the outcome for the police just the outcome of supply falling . I am joined of supply falling . I am joined now by reece ross, a criminal defence barrister along with my panel defence barrister along with my panel, of course, the former editor of the sun, Kelvin Mackenzie, and the former labour mp as well , mackenzie, and the former labour mp as well, stephen pound. Look, both of you, thank you very much. All of you. In fact, thank you very much. I will start with you, reece, thats okay. You, reece, if thats okay. A lot people think this is soft lot of people think this is soft justice. You nick something justice. If you nick something from whilst carrying from a shop whilst carrying a bag of cocaine, you should probably go to jail. Think what youve got well, i think what youve got to be careful with is that this isnt a wholesale isnt necessarily a wholesale change to the approaches to cautions its cautions being issued. Its actually, of it, actually, on the face of it, a recategorization. But concerningly, what its likely to do is simply to overcomplicate what we already have, the government have, although the government are brand as were are keen to brand this as were moving five cautions, in moving from five cautions, in fact down to two, what were actually doing is creating a Community Based caution where these cautions arent going to Community Based caution where thesimpleions arent going to Community Based caution where thesimple cautionst going to Community Based caution where the simple cautions orjoing to Community Based caution where the simple cautions or rapg to Community Based caution where thesimple cautions or rap on Community Based caution where the simple cautions or rap on the be simple cautions or rap on the wrists. Its going to be cautions alongside other elements such as unpaid work. Okay kelvin, do you think that some of these people who many people might regard as persistent scumbags should be allowed back out on the streets . I dont. And there are two aspects to this. First of all, i feel very sorry for the employees of supermarkets who feel threatened by these people , taken into by these people, taken into account theyre not very highly paid people. They have to follow around under the under the terms of the way that the companies insisted they have to follow these people around, saying , can these people around, saying, can i help you, knowing full well that theyre stealing . Its completely wrong. One of the issues we face in our country is theres a whole series of low level crime, which is not being deau level crime, which is not being dealt with in a harsh way. What dealt with in a harsh way. What happens to those low level crime people when they away with people when they get away with it . Become level it . They become higher level crime. Afraid we have to do crime. Im afraid we have to do one thing. We have to build more prisons. And if we have a criminalised society, then lets deal with it. Because if we have any other problem in our society , whether drugs or , whether its drugs or alcoholism , we deal with that. Alcoholism, we deal with that. Why we deal with criminals why dont we deal with criminals in these people in the right way . These people are professionals. You get any ordinary shop worker to come in here and talk about their life and they would tell you its part of what they have to do, who has to deal with criminals. All right. Reality is that we all right. Reality is that we put more people in jail per head of population, not enough. Of population, not enough. Not enough. Not enough. At moment. Theres twice at the moment. Theres twice as people in prison as many people in prison as there royal navy. There are in the royal navy. Theres people in theres nearly 90,000 people in prison month on prison now. I spent a month on the navy. To be fair, i spent a month as a prison officer in dartmoor, and it was for a thing called at the sharp end about, you know, da completely of touch. Da mps completely out of touch. I say a number of my and i say a number of my colleagues have been inside, but, know, im actually but, you know, im actually going. You police going. Did you meet the Police Officer . Noticed officer . But what i noticed quickly, the people there quickly, 73 of the people there were illiterate, completely illiterate. Dont illiterate. And i dont think sending whos sending a single mother whos shoplifting not shoplifting or someone whos not paid licence prison paid their tv licence to prison makes think the makes any sense. I think the scumbags, bang them up, throw away the key. They should go where comes in where the sunlight comes in stripes, not everybody stripes, but not everybody should, stripes, but not everybody sho look, going stripes, but not everybody sholook, going come back look, im to going come back to reece, because this, to you, reece, because on this, i as a journalist, have sat in on loads of court cases, and i do see people wandering who are are repeat offenders no are repeat offenders who have no remorse whatsoever, who as soon as they leave that courtroom after judge gives them after the judge gives them another the are another slap on the wrist, are just going down the local just going to go down the local corner and nick some booze corner shop and nick some booze from this must frustrate from there. This must frustrate you. Mean, that is the you. I mean, that is the reality, isnt it . Its not wholesale its not the wholesale reality. Course, theres reality. Of course, theres always examples of always going to be examples of that. Think to come back that. And i think to come back on kelvin was saying, what on what kelvin was saying, what youve to do an extent is youve got to do to an extent is look what the statistics are. Look at what the statistics are. Youre to have an youre never going to have an ideal representation that. Ideal representation of that. But you take cautions, but if you take youth cautions, its approximately 22 of youths who caution reoffend. Its approximately 22 of youths who thats caution reoffend. Its approximately 22 of youths who thats lowerution reoffend. Its approximately 22 of youths who thats lower than reoffend. Its approximately 22 of youths who thats lower than forffend. Its approximately 22 of youths who thats lower than for adults and thats lower than for adults who a conviction, which and thats lower than for adults wiabout a conviction, which and thats lower than for adults wiabout 24 a conviction, which and thats lower than for adults wiabout 24 to conviction, which and thats lower than for adults wiabout 24 to 25. Viction, which and thats lower than for adults wiabout 24 to 25. So ion, which and thats lower than for adults wiabout 24 to 25. So there hich and thats lower than for adults wiabout 24 to 25. So there is h is about 24 to 25. So there is some that for first some evidence that for first time offenders, cautions do work. There are, of course going time offenders, cautions do work. Be there are, of course going time offenders, cautions do work. Be examples of course going time offenders, cautions do work. Be examples of people going time offenders, cautions do work. Be examples of people whol time offenders, cautions do work. Be examples of people who are to be examples of people who are entrenched simply entrenched and that simply doesnt entrenched and that simply doeint entrenched and that simply doei would argue, kelvin, that i would argue, kelvin, that it works based on fear, and i think that at moment there think that at the moment there are many people running are so many people running around not the around who do not fear the police and not fear god and police and do not fear god and that think everybody would that i think everybody would agree been agree that theres been a complete in in in in complete breakdown in in in in the fear factor. See the police now and you see the police now and actually, the truth is, i feel fear for the police against the mob. Right. I think so. We have got to employ more Police Officers. So this conservative government should hang their headin government should hang their head in shame. Its only towards them coming out of 13 years that theyve increased the numbers. But what about if labour get in . I mean, how long would it be before we see keir starmer taking the knee and talking about on a second. When we hang on a second. When we went out of office in 2015, there were more police there were 20,000 more Police Officers in england and wales. And you know, thats a statistic you with. You cant argue with. 2013, actually 2015, but 2013, actually not 2015, 20, im sorry, 2015. Now, its interesting because were about assaults. Now, its interesting because weri about assaults. Now, its interesting because weri do about assaults. Now, its interesting because weri do believeyut assaults. Now, its interesting because weri do believe you ssaults. Now, its interesting because weri do believe you tqults. Now, its interesting because weri do believe you to have got 2010. Yeah, we might a caution yeah, we might need a caution here a minute. Here in a minute. Weve got a barrister yeah. Weve got a barrister on hand. Im not sure who ill be representing. No, no. But isnt it interesting . I mean, it wasnt all mean, you know, it wasnt all that long that police that long ago that Police Officers actually travel officers used to actually travel officers used to actually travel off uniform just take off duty in uniform just to take the duty band off their arm. And youd be on the bus . I mean, yesterday a horrendous yesterday there was a horrendous case. Nearly strangled case. A lad was nearly strangled on by two two on a bus by two people, two kids. You know, if there had there been nobody else on the bus, did anything about it. I still the idea the still like the idea of the Police Actually being like the rest you know, like rest of us, you know, like civilians their civilians in uniform and their travel on bus, their travel travel on the bus, their travel on the tube im not saying that they be working they should be working 24 over seven, but at least theres a presence. But what terrifies me more than anything is this more than anything else is this so called when you get so called steaming. When you get seven, people, they seven, eight, nine people, they just into a shop just steam into a shop protecting the electrical shop or will just or vapes, and they will just clear the shelves. Now, thats an its like home an invasion. Its like a home invasion. And is outrageous. But this but thats the point. Doesnt that. Point. This doesnt stop that. Surely. The current setup surely. Surely the current setup that at the moment that weve got at the moment gives people slap on the gives those people a slap on the wrist. Its the answer. Wrist. No its the answer. Its Important Note that its important to note that this is a draft code and there are as inevitable with things this is a draft code and there ar an element of control the an element of control there. The difficulty is even difficulty that we have is even if have more Police Officers, if we have more Police Officers, our breaking point our courts are at breaking point and cant accommodate. Our courts are at breaking point ancthe cant accommodate. Our courts are at breaking point ancthe otherant accommodate. Our courts are at breaking point ancthe other thing commodate. Our courts are at breaking point ancthe other thing isntnodate. Our courts are at breaking point ancthe other thing isntnojust. The other thing isnt it just very, very quickly, weve got a matter of seconds, if ill just refer insider knowledge refer to your insider knowledge on as it were. On this, as it were. The Court Backlog and the fact that prisons are so full is that really of the reasons that really one of the reasons why do we have to hold why we just do we have to hold our and just that our hands up and just admit that we to dish out self justice we have to dish out self justice because just do any of because we just cant do any of the hard stuff. Theres no more room, both in terms prisons. Terms of courts and prisons. Theres the court appeal theres a the court of appeal has issued guidance on sentencing there a sentencing that there is a deterrent to those sentencing from custodial from imposing short custodial sentences, because i know through feed that the through my twitter feed that the only people really only thing people are really appalled about is the fact that people arent getting long enough sentences and there arent enough people to jail. People want that. People want that. All right. Well, ill return to wonderful panel very, to this wonderful panel very, very that, very shortly. Good stuff that, though. Thank you very, very much. Ive got loads more coming your course, between now your way, of course, between now and of the thank and the end of the hour. Thank you very, much. For rhys, you very, very much. Scott says buerk by name. Burke by nature. This is , of burke by nature. This is, of course, the chap called mr burke, who we had on at the start of the show. Nice fella. This bloke a. Dont allow him this bloke is a. Dont allow him to get away with it. He was not a nutter. I actually thought he was a very nice chap. We just disagree when it comes to climate alarmism and hysteria, gordon great keep gordon says. Great show. Keep the these climate the pressure on these climate fanatics. Thank very, fanatics. Thank you very, very much. Have got here . So much. What have we got here . So im on the crime and shoplifting. Just one more. Patricia name. Patricia patricia great name. Patricia says a shop keeper says my cousin is a shop keeper and scared into work. And hes scared to go into work. Sometimes crime is serious sometimes the crime is serious and scary. Yeah, think and scary. Yeah, people think these crimes. Im these are minor crimes. Im sorry, not minor sorry, but theyre not minor crimes. Think its a crimes. People think its a victimless as well. Oh, victimless crime as well. Oh, ive nicked from ive just nicked this from tesco. About that poor tesco. What about that poor Security Guard . Hes on absolutely nothing. And our. Hes down hes tried to chase someone down the says that the street, and he says that persons a machete. Hes got persons got a machete. Hes got a wife kids at home, bless a wife and kids at home, bless him, you but anyway, lets him, you know. But anyway, lets crack bibby stockholm crack on the bibby stockholm barge is likely hit with barge is likely to be hit with further delays. Get this, because fire brigade because the fire Brigade Union declares the asylum barge to be a death trap. Yes, thats right. The fire Brigade Union, whose biggest recently biggest apartment was recently found out to be institutionally racist. By the way, the london racist. By the way, the london fire service, they found that its new, its new calling now is the champion of the marginalised. Thats great of them. Instead of concerning them. Instead of concerning themselves with the london fire brigades toxic culture that was found to allow bullying and abuse, they are worried about fire risk posed by narrow corridors on what i am terming a luxury barge. Really well. Corridors on what i am terming a didnt know lizzo was seeking asylum in britain, but the government has insisted that the bibby stockholm barge would be safe and hopes to take its first Asylum Seekers sometime next week. But it sounds like another nail in the governments flimsy plans to take control of our borders. Even if this barge does borders. Even if this barge does open, it will only house 500 migrants. We all know this, dont we . Its barely scratching the surface of those 50,000 people who cross in small boats last year, look as delay leads to dismay is it time for a more robust policy to stop these small boats crossing . Still with small boats crossing . Still with me is my panel, the former editor of the sun, Kelvin Mackenzie, and the former labour mp as well. Stephen pound. Stephen, ill go to you on this. It is lefties like you who are getting in the way of this. Weve got the Fire Brigades Union. Theyre affiliated with the labour party. I dont think they are. Weve got cash in hand. Lawyers who are saying, look, ill make up an asylum claim for you if the fee is right. Whats going on . Well, no, i mean, if the governments unhappy with the law, change the law, they can change the law. Its as that. Look, its simple as that. But look, the reality is that this this idea of having a barge just off portland, theres huge implications. Portland, incidentally, was the last place he people in the he used to execute people in the navy portland. Bill yes, but navy on portland. Bill yes, but theres no suggestion. Sammy but look, i think was look, the idea i think it was somebody on news said last somebody on gb news said last week, if there fire, week, if there was a fire, surely all they have to do is to dunk it. Now the reality is that this is close to this. But this is right close to this. But what really my about what really gets my goat about this, patrick, the people this, patrick, is the people that putting on there, that theyre putting on there, if just decide, oh, if ever they just decide, oh, yes, to pop in there. Yes, im happy to pop in there. Theyre allowed out. They can wander portland, you Wander Around portland, you know, of that on know, and the impact of that on the infrastructure in portland, its insane. We know that. The infrastructure in portland, its irealle. We know that. The infrastructure in portland, its ireal problem know that. The infrastructure in portland, its ireal problem here,v that. The infrastructure in portland, its ireal problem here, the at. The real problem here, the root cause, cancer the heart cause, the cancer at the heart of this whole issue is the completely sclerotic, ineffective office weve ineffective home office weve got. Are some people in got. There are some people in this country, i think us this country, and i think us three every decent three and virtually every decent person yes, person would actually say, yes, you asylum, come you are entitled to asylum, come into country, stop messing into this country, stop messing about for 2 or 3 years, go out there, job contribute. There, get a job and contribute. But to say, some 21 year but i have to say, some 21 year old the south balkans old man from the south balkans whos come over here to work in a car wash for couple of years a car wash for a couple of years on bike. On your bike. We dont need them. Yeah no, fair enough. Views fair enough. Kelvin, your views on because it is looking on this, because it is looking increasingly like there is that kind of lefty web behind kind of spidery lefty web behind the stopping. The scenes, the stopping. I they hate oh, yes. I mean, they hate the they hate the idea. They the i. They hate the idea. They i mean, lets be honest with you. Mean, i hesitate to think you. I mean, i hesitate to think what on earth that flood coming from like when from france will look like when and when labour get in. I and if and when labour get in. I cant imagine smugglers cant imagine the smugglers saying, thank you. Saying, oh, you know, thank you. The rishi sunak did turn the boats back. Not necessarily boats back. Im not necessarily saying that you should, but if he did turn the boats back and it labour wouldnt it were labour wouldnt reverse it. In. It. They came in. They may reverse it. They they may not reverse it. They havent any policy ive havent got any policy that ive heard sounds like it heard of which sounds like it will stopped, for will be stopped, thats for sure. Bottom line is im sure. So the bottom line is im in favour of the barge, right . Why it reduces the cost. Why shouldnt reduce the cost . I shouldnt we reduce the cost . I mean, it reduces by about two thirds. Loads barges. Thirds. We need loads of barges. I the hotels in our i dont like the hotels in our tourist streets being taken tourist high streets being taken over who have nothing over by people who have nothing in far as i can see, in common as far as i can see, nothing with them. Nothing in common with them. When what they do in when you look at what they do in holland, in holland, they dont have waiting list. Have a waiting list. Into schiphol, which you come into schiphol, which is the main entry point for people asylum the people seeking asylum from the old indies empire. Old Dutch East Indies empire. They them. They actually deal with them. There they have there and then they have warehouses which sound horrible, but theyre perfectly but in fact theyre perfectly reasonable, civilised and reasonable, civilised places and you of you dont leave the environs of the until youve either the airport until youve either been in you come or been said, yep, in you come or out, you why cant we do out, you go. Now why cant we do that . Look, weve got to have a full scale investigation into some claims. Some of these legal claims. Weve in a sting weve seen recently in a sting operation saying that operation them saying that theyve saying theyve solicitors saying for Ā£10,000 cash, get you Ā£10,000 in cash, i can get you a doctors note that says youve got depression. If you make up that had some kind that youve had some kind of horrific childhood get horrific childhood trauma. Get a load this though, kelvin, the load of this though, kelvin, the latest suffered latest one is theyve suffered trauma they couldnt trauma at sea so they couldnt go stay on a barge. Well, go and stay on a barge. Well, was that trauma at sea caused because you decided come because you decided to come across . Because you decided to come achnd be honest, so the and lets be honest, so the daily mail did a spectacularjob and basically and all it did was basically confirm thought confirm what we actually thought was going on. And my view is how many other are there out many other lawyers are there out there are acting there right now . Who are acting in and these people in this way . And these people who legal aid. Right. Who take legal aid. Right. Effectively turning many, effectively we are turning many, many barristers into millionaires because they know that there are that our law does not control the our borders or our ability to send people back. Theyre the same people who defended some saddams soldiers after iraq. But i mean, i dealt after iraq. But i mean, i dealt with hundreds, if not thousands of asylum cases 22 years of asylum cases in the 22 years i an mp and ive said this i was an mp and ive said this before in gb news a number of times. This photograph of times. I saw this photograph of general petraeus, the general petraeus, who was the american commander with american commander there with heads it, heads photoshopped onto it, people saying, i work people saying, oh, yes, i work with american military. By with the american military. By the i saw fifth of the the time i saw the fifth of the same photograph, i it down same photograph, i took it down to office. I handed it to the home office. I handed it in and said, look, this is in and i said, look, this is a scam. I know the solicitors, i can tell you exactly where they are. I know precisely. Ill give you the address. Theyre giving people photoshop people this picture. Photoshop and yeah. Nothing. Absolutely no. Get what absolutely no. I get what youre saying. Absolutely. Its kind is it that the kind of so why is it that the solicitors regulation authority, why out why arent they putting out secret these secret shoppers into these places you why. Places and ill tell you why. Because the solicitor fees are on at it themselves. So disgrace. I think thats exactly what i thought i this. I thought when i read this. I thought when i read this. I thought i almost felt sorry for the people that got caught in it because thought could have because i thought you could have knocked a load of knocked on the door of a load of solicitors down the solicitors up and down the country and it probably the greatest that can happen greatest thing that can happen to is anybody dodi to lawyers is anybody dodi coming saying, from coming and saying, im from sudan, theres a load sudan, help me, theres a load of claims home of legal claims that the home office is at the moment office is facing at the moment about barge. And sorry, about this barge. And im sorry, but they are not coming from these Asylum Seekers. Theyre directly. Its coming from solicitors. Suffer solicitors. Oh. Did you suffer trauma . No in asylum trauma . Theres no way in Asylum Seekers into a legal seekers walking into a legal office whos paying for their fees. One, stephen. Fees. Just a quick one, stephen. If power and if labour came into power and they right, we cant they said, right, look, we cant clear this backlog, were going to start again an amnesty for everyone now and we everyone is here now and we start would back start again. Would you back that, think . That, do you think . Had that twice. No, weve had that twice. Weve a thing called the weve had a thing called the regularisation overstayers, weve had a thing called the regulawasion overstayers, weve had a thing called the regulawas basicallyzrstayers, weve had a thing called the regulawas basically wiped rs, weve had a thing called the regulawas basically wiped the which was basically wiped the slate it twice in slate clean. We had it twice in this it didnt work this country. It didnt work because the same home office oversaw that. And that oversaw that. And the day that they slate they had, they wiped the slate clean. They started up over again. You know, labour is committed actually making committed to actually making the home work. Not done home office work. Weve not done it the past, but weve got to it in the past, but weve got to do it future because the do it in the future because the country were actually country will not. Were actually going to see this country not just at seams. Just creaking at the seams. Theres Going Division theres going to be a division in this country. Going to yeah, i fear its going to yeah, i fear for that. I fear for that. Both of you. Because batus america. Well, well, well. Well, well, well. Were already potentially going that way. San francisco going like a paradise in a minute. But thank you very much again for fabulous panel for again for my fabulous panel for joining evening. Was joining me this evening. It was good actually editor good that actually former editor of the sun, Kelvin Mackenzie and former pound, former labour mp stephen pound, he managed to not beat each other any which other up at any point, which sorry that. The sorry if i missed that. The night have a few night is young, have a few dnnks night is young, have a few drinks anyway. Coming up, have the wokerati our gender and the wokerati won our gender and diversity quotas going to become the wokerati won our gender and divenew quotas going to become the wokerati won our gender and divenew quotaslgoing to become the wokerati won our gender and divenew quotasl think to become the wokerati won our gender and divenew quotasl think theyecome the wokerati won our gender and divenew quotasl think they might the new norm . I think they might be your workplace. How welcome back. Now an image of an all white male kitchen has prompted criticism from the wokerati army. The armada cried for more female chefs and more diversity in kitchens and is accusing the restaurant and Food Industry of being a white boys club. But i thought, we want to get women out of the kitchen, dont we . Anyway regardless, maybe these eight men were the best candidates. Or maybe in an industry where women are only represented in 1 in 5 chefs, its challenging to hire female employees. I dont know. Yes, employees. I dont know. Yes, the industry is dominated by men, but that is an issue for broader society. I would have broader society. I would have thought not really the fault of a sole Business Owner whos just trying to make ends meet. Now, after initially defending his chefs, telling the woke lot to just just calm down and send me your cvs. Thomas straker, the your cvs. Thomas straker, the owner of the restaurant in question, has just done the old classic , hasnt he . Completely classic, hasnt he . Completely rolled over and died in the face of mounting online pressure, a nonh of mounting online pressure, a north korean style admission of guilt for his staffing choices and the intimate dating forces of esg have again trumped merit ocratic practises, rewarding hard work is replaced with meaningless tokenism and voyeuristic gestures where the purpose of hiring someone is just ticking a box. Now im joined by general secretary of the Free Speech Union , the the Free Speech Union, the wonderful toby young. Toby, thank you very, very much. His first mistake, i think here was not actually hiring a loaded man, not a of white man, not hiring a load of white people. Was apologising. Yeah people. It was apologising. Yeah did he apologise . That why did he apologise . That was of the most was ridiculous. One of the most ridiculous about ridiculous things about his apology he he would apology is that he said he would employ non binary people in employ more non binary people in the hope of being more represented , if only more represented, if only more non binary people applied for the jobs. I checked the 2021 the jobs. I checked the 2021 census for england and wales, which which reveals that the percentage of the population of england and wales, which is non binary, is 0. 06. So hed have to employ a brigade of 2000 people and have one of them as non binary in order to be representative. Maybe if he had a non binary person come in to sweep the floor once a year, hed be that particular hed be ticking that particular box. Idea that because box. But the idea that because he got non binary he hasnt got any non binary people his brigade , its not people on his brigade, its not representative, its just ludicrous. Ludicrous. Some people say that what this highlight, though, is this does highlight, though, is an things like an example of things like unconscious and that unless unconscious bias and that unless we diversity quotas in we had fixed diversity quotas in the workplace, you run the risk of exclusively hiring people who look and sound like you. The premise of these criticisms of mr straker is that the jobs in question are highly paid, prestigious , high status paid, prestigious, high status jobs. You know , and thats why jobs. You know, and thats why there should be more people of colour, more women doing those jobs, more non binary people. But actually theyre not. All eight people in that photograph are chefs. Thomas straker is the chef. The other seven are assistant chefs. Being an assistant chefs. Being an assistant chefs. Being an assistant is of the assistant chef is one of the lowest paid jobs in country. Lowest paid jobs in the country. I googled before coming on. I googled it before coming on. The starting salary is less than the starting salary a bus the starting salary of a bus driver. Just over Ā£20,000. Driver. Its just over Ā£20,000. The reason all the people who are filling those assistant chef positions are white is because white School Leavers are now the least qualified demographic in the country. If there were brain surgeons, if they were software engineers, if they were ceos of ftse 100 companies, then yes , ftse 100 companies, then yes, you can understand the outrage that there arent more people of colour and more women in this photograph. But given that its a low paying job a low status, low paying job that most people of colour and most women dont want to do because theyre better qualified, only people who qualified, the only people who end those bottom feeding end up in those bottom feeding positions working positions are White Working Class very few class men with very few qualifications, if any Company Wants protect wants to seriously protect itself pre emptively now from a situation like this is the right thing to do for them to have some kind of quota system. So that if a picture emerges of their team, that happens to all be of one particular ethnicity or gender, they can turn around and say , look, weve turn around and say, look, weve got this practise in place. And if you looked at our staff as a whole, then this would happen, because i think thats whats going to happen in places. Well, the equality act 2010 actually makes it unlawful , full actually makes it unlawful, full to positively discriminate in favour of people of a particular colour, people of a particular genden colour, people of a particular gender, Sexual Orientation. Gender, Sexual Orientation. Youre not supposed to discriminate and screen those people out, but youre not supposed to discriminate against people because they dont belong to one those protected to one of those protected characteristics. Positive action is so youre allowed to is allowed. So youre allowed to encourage people of colour, women, handicapped people, etcetera to apply for jobs. But etcetera to apply for jobs. But if you discriminate in favour of those people, thats actually a breach of the equality act. Why dont just blind cvs . Why isnt that just a thing that everyone does thats commonplace where you never see the name or a picture where possible of the person who is applying for that job . The problem is patrick, is that when you have blind cvs, when you dont see the names of the people and you dont know their ethnicity, their gender, their ethnicity, their gender, their orientation turns their Sexual Orientation turns out cis het white men end up mostly being employed. They had mostly being employed. They had a blind orchestra audition. It a blind orchestra audition. It was a famous experiment. They had the musicians from had the musicians play from behind a screen and the direct actors of the orchestra selected the musicians in the hope that that would mean theyd overcome their biases. Employ their unconscious biases. Employ many more people colour, many many more people of colour, many more etcetera. They more women, etcetera. They ended up predominantly white up employing predominantly white heterosexual men. Heterosexual men. Why was that . Why was that . Well, because they happen to be the most able. Just happened be. They just happened to be. They people would then say, they just people would then say, isnt it . Thats the thats the product of them having had a better etcetera, and better education, etcetera, and more privilege. Thats what they would how they would. Well, so if thats your view then blind auditions, blind cvs, blind applications isnt the solution. Blind applications isnt the sollno,l. Blind applications isnt the sollno, its fascinating stuff. No, its fascinating stuff. Just one last one while ive got you then do you think youd be in favour of more Ethnic Diversity . Curry houses. What . More white people employed in curry houses . You employed in curry houses . You know, i think that, like you, it should be at the discretion of the employer to employ the person who they regard is best qualified for the job. And the problem is that when its a job like working in a kitchen, kitchen, porter kitchen assistant, youre not going to get many applications. Youre not going to get the people who apply not going to get the people who apply to going be some of apply are to going be some of the least qualified people in the least qualified people in the country. You know, white School Leavers are the least likely demographic now, white working leavers to working class School Leavers to go to university. People of African Heritage are african Caribbean Heritage are now go to now more likely to go to university than people of white working backgrounds. So working class backgrounds. So its surprising they its not surprising that they end in dead end, low paying. Its fascinating the way that actually youve looked at that and well kind of spun it and very well kind of spun it around in the sense of actually its a sign maybe of deprivation in certain White Communities more than it is about any kind of racism. Absolutely yeah. So weve got to go. But thank you very much, toby. Great stuff that toby young, the general secretary of the Free Speech Union. Right. Well, thank you very for that. So that is very much for that. So that is very much for that. So that is very all from me. But up very nearly all from me. But up next the mighty dan wootton next is the mighty dan wootton dam. On your dam. Whats coming up on your show . Oh, patrick pulling double duty i feel duty today. Great stuff. I feel like watching all like ive been watching you all day lots on the day, but weve got lots on the way. Lee anderson in the house. Way. Lee anderson in the house. Jim davidson in the house. Angela levin in the house. Plus, im going to be showing you these terrible comments made from employers of monzo about folk, including the great jacob rees mogg. Rees mogg. Yeah, indeed. I mean, it really does make you think that if you just have conservative views, then this country and some of the people in it will try to cancel you. Wonderful stuff. Thank very much. Stuff. Dan, thank you very much. Thats coming up later after thats all coming up later after the weather. Been a the weather. Its been a pleasure filling forjacob pleasure filling in for jacob rees mogg. Patrick rees mogg. I am Patrick Christys. Been of christys. This has been state of the remember tune in the nation. Remember to tune in next week as jacob will be live from somerset. From somerset. Further showers moving across northern moving in across northern scotland Northern Ireland scotland into Northern Ireland and generally and temperatures generally staying double figures across staying in double figures across the due to that northerly the board due to that northerly wind lot of cloud around.
