General Motors Chevy have expanded their support for the ‘Discover the Unexpected fellowship with the National Newspaper Publishers Association and will offer five more students from historically black colleges and universities “internships to explore a variety of roles and develop skills as change agents in their communities,” the automaker said in a statement.
The Chevrolet NNPA fellowship has been active since 2016 and historically has placed five students with news organizations to prepare them for their careers in media. Under this newly expanded fellowship, the NNPA will now accept a total of ten students into the program. Five of these students will be placed with news organizations to focus on and learn about digital and social content creation, while the remaining five will have the opportunity to work within the Chevrolet brand, helping out with market planning, advertising and other related work. Each fellow will also have access to a 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, the automaker says, which will enable them “to learn more about Chevrolet and General Motors’ vision for an all-electric future and create engaging content showcasing how the vehicle fits into their lives.”
