450 students who attend Highlands Elementary School will be starting their first day of school at a different location. Students will be sent to the old Cavalry Hills school, at 2800 Poplar Ave.
The $1.5 million construction at Highlands Elementary School is incomplete due to rain, labor, and material issues impacted by COVID-19, according to the district.
Huntsville City Schools District 5 Representative, Carlos Mathews, said the school's ceiling is currently the exterior roof. He said dust particles would be falling on students if they didn't move locations.
