India has called for text-based negotiations to find a permanent solution to the issue of public stockholding for food security at the World Trade Organization (WTO). The European Union (EU) has expressed readiness for talks on the matter. The issue was discussed at an agriculture negotiations meeting in Geneva, where the EU responded positively to the chair's suggestions regarding safeguards and anti-circumvention measures. India emphasized the importance of discussing external reference prices and recalculating subsidy limits.
