I was motivated to go into social work because of personal experiences and social work’s alignment with the values my mom instilled in me. From a young age, I was taught to see potential in all people, work towards equity and social justice, and speak up when someone is being left out, targeted, or discriminated against. I have worked at OHSU for four and a half years
I’m not sure I knew what to think when I first learned about COVID-19. I try to keep a cool head in times of crisis and with medical concerns, but the information was changing so rapidly, it was hard to get bearings and decide what to do. It was also difficult to understand what the true risk was and how long it would last.
