Just before the end of the daytona 500, newmans car flipped, hurtling down the track on its roof. In a shower of sparks, on his roof reporter the number 6 ford coming to rest still on fire as fuel was seen pouring out of it. Watch the crash again. Newman was in the lead, nearing the finish line, when his car spun and hit the wall headon. It went airborne and collided with the car of corey lajoie. The state that it arrived in our studio, it was completely obscured by a very thick varnish that had degraded over the centuries. It was very difficult to evaluate it properly. Sean and her team using 21st Century Technology like infrared technology on the 1632 painting. With better technology, we were able to obtain an xray that showed brushwork and a liveliness to that brushwork that is quite consistent with other works by rembrandt. Reporter eventually uncovering rembrandts signature. The team finally able to say it wasnt a student of rembrandts who had painted a portrait of a young woman but the master artist itself. Its not every day that youre told you have a rembrandt in your collection. Its a reversal were thrilled about. Reporter with good reason. A rembrandt sold at auction for 33 million back in 2009. And this isnt the first time a painting turned out to be much more than what it appeared. This painting was hanging over the stove in a frenchwomans kitchen when it was discovered to be an original by renaissance master cimabue which raked in 26 million at auction. Color me impressed.
