Kidde Smoke Detectors Being Recalled Because They May Not Alert
The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Kidde are recalling and replacing certain models of their smoke and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors because they may not alert consumers of a fire.
Kidde is recalling Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms and Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission because "The smoke alarm and the combination smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) alarm can fail to alert consumers to a fire."
Models impacted by the recall include: 2040-DSR, 2050-DS10, 2060-ASR, 2070 -VDSCR, 2070-VASCR, 2070-VDSR, 2070-VASR.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recalled alarms were sold at a variety of retailers including Walmart, Menards, Home Depot and other home, department and hardware stores nationwide. Additionally it was sold to various electrical distributors and it was also available online. The models that are being recalled were sold between May 2019 - September 2020 and cost between $10.00 and $70.00.
