Leamington council decided unanimously to reject contracting out policing to Windsor Tuesday night and remain with the OPP but made it clear the status quo with the provincial force is not acceptable.
“Anyone who thinks this is over, you are underestimating us,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald.

Council voted a year ago to terminate its contract with the OPP and explore alternatives citing various issues, including a lack of transparency and disclosure from OPP management and allegations of having only one or two officers on duty in the entire municipality.
