Nine years ago, Northeastern Ontario was shocked when the former Ontario Liberal Minister of Northern Development Rick Bartolucci of Sudbury, a Northeastern himself, was cancelling the fabled Northlander train service as of Sept. 28, 2012.
Although the fate of the Northlander was avoidable, party politics prevailed.
Since then, lots has been said and written about bringing back the Northlander passenger train service, but so far just a lot of rumblings and no action while the rails and spikes are rusting away.
