Coronavirus cases continued to hit record daily highs in the u. S. , but donald trump says help is on the way. In remarks at the white house, the president says he expects the vaccine to be available for the entire population as soon as april. He added that he expects an emergency use authorization for pfizers vaccine extremely soon. He said the goverent will provide millions of doses free of charge. Thats a big deal in a country without universal health care coverage. More than 240,000 people in the u. S. Have been killed by the coronavirus. President rump will be approved very quickly, we hope. Say it again, five times faster. Anchor lets bring in our washington correspondent. What details did trump give about this intended rollout . Reporter the first is that it is going to happen much sooner than expected. He said within weeks, we would be getting a vaccine that would be rolling out first responders, elderly people, and those merck most at risk. Then it would be widely available by april of 2021. This is all what operation warp speed had done. And the job they did to really contract and shrink the time needed to get that vaccine and produce it and distribute it was all thanks to his administration. He insisted that this vaccine deal would be free of charge. It would be a very big deal, of course. It is not clear whether that free of charge is specific to the first round, the vaccine available for the frontline workers and the elderly. At one moment he almost didnt recognize the next administration. He was talking about the fact that his administration would not be going into a lockdown because that vaccine was arriving. He insisted on that and then started a sentence that seems to be going to we will not going to a lockdown, may be the next and then he caught himself and said, we will see what happens next. Whatever administration comes next. It seems his bravado he is putting up on twitter saying that he had these elections stolen and that he would win in the end when all the lawsuits returned and the recounts happened, it looks like he was about to acknowledge a new administration and then caught himself at the last second. It is the closest weve gotten to president donald trump. Anchor thank you so much for that wrap up. Mike pompeo is on his way to paris. The first stop on a trip for allies.
