Saskatoon police say they charged a 29-year-old man with assault after he threw a shovel at one person and struck another with a skateboard in downtown Saskatoon on Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to First Avenue South and 20th Street East around 8:20 a.m. for an assault in progress and spoke with two people who said they had been assaulted by an unknown man, police said in a news release.

Officers learned that the man threw a shovel at one of the victims and when the second victim attempted to intervene, the man struck the person with a skateboard and then fled the scene. The suspect was also reported to have struck a vehicle with a skateboard prior to the assault.
