Man suffers life-threatening injuries after shooting in Opelousas

The Opelousas Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a person with life-threatening injuries. 
Police were called at about 3 a.m. to Academy Street near Blanchard Street. the area is known as "The Back," Chief Martin McLendon said in a release. 
Officers found a victim who had been shot. The victim was taken to a local hospital with a life-threatening injury, McLendon said. 
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
