(ABC 6 News) - Phase two of Mason City’s River City Renaissance Project is underway.
A commemorative ceremony kicked off progress on the Principal Pavilion, a permanent performing arts venue for the Mason City Municipal Band and other groups.
“This more than just about the band. This is about our community and looking at the great history and tradition of music within our community and in north Iowa,” said Director of the Mason City Municipal Band Russ Kramer.
Mason City boasts a rich musical heritage. Native Meredith Wilson was discovered while playing in the Mason City Municipal Band. The pavilion will help keep the music alive and well in the River City.
