Mexican judge suspends hydrocarbons law approved by Lopez Obrador
Mexico, May 11 (Prensa Latina) Juan Pablo Gomez Fierro, the same judge who suspended the electricity act, did the same with the Hydrocarbons Law with general effects, which prevents its enforcement, Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) denounced on Tuesday.
The state company said that the judge admitted to processing an appeal filed by fuel distribution companies considering that the new legislation gives PEMEX an unfair advantage, which it rejects.
The judge's ruling not only benefits the distributing companies that filed the suspension claim, but also 54 other appeals filed so far against the new legislation, said Beatriz Marcelino, director of Ciita Group, a company specialized in the energy sector.
