What they are voting for but still he is talking about his challenger, dave mccormick, as being against the very issues he voted for. Take a listen to that. When it comes down to the decision of voter has to make, they will make a different decision based upon the president ial race, in the president ial race or a series of considerations and they will make a decision in my race. Specific to the choice of who the next senator will be. When they come down to that choice, whether it is on basic rights, like womens rights, voting rights, workers rights, there is no common ground between me and dave mccormick. No one picked up reporter alex, we are here in pennsylvania, we will head to the debate at the end of this week between mccormick and casey, the first showdown of three we expect later in the month of october. When you talk about the money spent in this campaign, 2 Million just on ads, voters in pennsylvania are used to seeing political ads on their screen and when they are driving down the road, as well. There is a lot going on in pennsylvania. Im glad you have it covered for us, julie tsirkin, Thank You. In moments, Steve Kornacki breaks down the Gender Gap in Age Gap in the new Nbc Telemundo Poll on hispanic voters. Good day to all of you from Msnbc World headquarters in New York. Welcome to Alex Witt Reports we begin this hour with decision 2024 and 37 days until election day. Right now former President Donald Trump is in Battleground Pennsylvania where his gop supporters gather to hear from him and later on Tonight Democrats will hear from Vice PresidentKamala Harris speaking in las vegas. Today on the talk shows, surrogates for the campaigns were battling over heated political rhetoric. Medicare for all, green new deal, crazy stuff. I am not saying she is crazy, i am saying your party is and your policies are [ bleep ] crazy. They have nothing on their site to talk about good for everyday americans, good for working families. Two days after the pre president Vp Harris made her trip to arizona, she is picking up the endorsement of former ambassador to turkey, jeff flink. I am happy she went to the border and i was pleased to hear what she had to say, if she wants to have a tougher policy, then the biden administration has deployed, i think that is certainly needed. It is difficult to support a candidate who, having lost an election, tries to use the powers of the presidency to try to overturn that election. In just two days, Vice President ial Running Mates governor tim Walz And SenatorJd Vance will spur off in a debate and a new Nbc News Poll shows Vice President harris with a 14 Point Lead over former President Trump in Latino Voters. Steve kornacki digs into Gender And Age demographics. Men are tight when it comes to this race, women are 26 Point Advantage among hispanic voters. There is a Gender Gap over all voters. Age is a big factor here. Look at this, voters over 50, hispanic voters over 50, almost a 60 Point Advantage for harris, she is barely leading with hispanic voters under 50, in fact, among men under 50, Donald Trump actually leads in our poll by nine points. Weve got reporters and analysts in place covering all these new developing Story Lines for us and we start with Nbc Campaign embeds where the Vice President is holding a Rally Tonight. Welcome, recent polling shows harris leading in nevada but when it comes to Latino Voters, that new Nbc News Poll is showing mixed signals. What can we expect from harris answer Rally Tonight . Reporter well alex, youre completely right. Public data suggests while harris does oftentimes lead former President Trump among Latino Voters, the margin is lower than that We Saw of President Biden or Hillary Clinton. Her campaign is working to gin up support. Now she is going to be speaking here today, days after she unveiled Immigration Policies in arizona a few days ago and she worked to strike a balance. A lot of Latino Voters, particularly once i talked to in arizona and nevada, they care about having a secure border but they have cared about having a clear path to citizenship at that is the balance Vice President harris has sought to walk the line on. At her again in arizona, she said she would toughen asylum restrictions, make it with more barriers to the current Immigration Process while also currently working in a bipartisan fashion to create a clear path to citizenship for dreamers. That is the focus of her career. This is what she said at that rally in Arizona Couple days ago. We are also a nation of immigrants. The united states has been enriched by generations of people who have come from every corner of the world. They contribute to our country and they become part of the american story. And so we must reform our Immigration System to ensure that it works in an orderly way, that it is humane and that it makes our country stronger. [ applause ] reporter alex, one thing that is interesting about this in particular, they are not only the second largest group but one of those that are ideologically diverse at what does that mean . It means Kamala HarrisWill Focus On Immigration and economics, her economic agenda, did an Issue Poll after poll has suggested is a top one for Latino Voters across Battleground States. Nnamdi egwuonwu, Thank You for the latest from las vegas. Lets bring in in Bed Jake Traylor where Donald Trump will soon take the stage. Jake, welcome. What is the latest developments and both Trump And Harris have been to erie, pennsylvania during a number of times. What makes it so important . Reporter alex, this is trumps second time in erie, pennsylvania during this just this campaign cycle. It is pretty representative of the entire state of pennsylvania. Of course, led the city itself of erie, it leans blue and will most likely support Vice President harris. We have the far out rural communities that lean towards trump. Harris has made inroads to pull support against trump but it is the suburbs of erie that are voters of progress for both candidates. That dynamic is pretty emblematic in the entire state of Battleground Pennsylvania. Both candidates over the past few days, have had a Focus On Immigration and the southern border. Vice president harris visited the border earlier this friday and on yesterday, Trump Held Remarks in Rule Ms. Wisconsin and told Community Members in wisconsin there community was negatively impacted by undocumented in migrants. Viewers have the chance to listen to how they feel about the actual residents of that community and how they feel about how immigration has affected their community. Listen. It is a safe place, i would say. Yeah. I think it is pretty safe. There is room for immigrants. A lot of people want to come to the united states. I dont like the fact we keep using fear as a political thing. There are still people who will be afraid. That is why, when any politician keeps railing on the fact of the fear of things that i mentioned before, there are people like that. They buy into that kind of thing. Reporter alex, trump will take the stage moments from now. We anticipate very quickly he will get right into those remarks telling folks in pennsylvania how undocumented immigrants and immigration is negatively affecting their communities. This time, it will take place, of course, in Battleground Pennsylvania. Jake traylor, Thank You so much. We will be watching to see when that rally gets under way. Joining me now is meridith mcgraw, national political correspondent and an Trump Contributor and dean of the Clinton Pool school of Public Service at the university of arkansas. Donald trump and Vice PresidentKamala Harris have been holding these events in Battleground States all weekend. Is the two candidates remain in a dead heat within the margin of error in recent state polling, with 37 days until the election, are there still many undivided voters to sway in the states and how can candidates move the needle . Reporter well it is a very small group of undecided voters who are going to ultimately be critical here. Both of these campaigns are working hard to capture their attention as they move into these final weeks with events on the ground and then outreach that is, you know, personalized to the candidates. They feel they each have to win them over and they are the most horrible with. We have had some of these polls come out in the past week that have demonstrated just how tight this could be for some pollsters saying this could be the tightest president ial race we have seen ever. So i think for both of these campaigns, for the Trump Campaign, it is trying to do more to win over female voters. They really struggle with that. They struggle with their young male voters they feel they can do well with. For the Harris Campaign, you know, it is the exact opposite. The Harris Campaign continues to show that they are doing better on the issue of abortion and reproductive rights, while the Trump Campaign feels that if they keep talking about the economy and reminding voters of how they have felt about the cost of living and inflation that could be a decisive factor for people when they are getting out to vote. True, but the numbers are getting better on that front with abortion and time enough for the voters to feel it. Victoria harris is in the key Battleground State of nevada, at least one in every five voters are latino. His there is Brandnew Polling from nbc showing harris leading trump with Latino Voters 54 to 40 and even more telling perhaps, that is because they like her with the Vice President outpacing her competitor by 30 points in most categories that are related to personality. You think trumps nasty and abrasive rhetoric is driving the Likability Question versus specific policies . Yes, alex. Here is the equation. A big piece of it is that a lot of folks, myself included, didnt know a lot about Kamala Harris, especially those latinos out in california. It has been a race to get her to connect with people because, as we have seen, she is someone who has put forward a joyous message, someone who is framed as a problem solver, she connects with people when she is out. So the question is, though, is there enough time with 37 days left to go . When people meet her, they like her. That is what they need to know. The other part is, i just want to remind folks, this question about, we have seen enough to know we are moving toward the republican party, historically, going back three or four decades, we have seen latinos off swing back and forth. Some cycles they have been swinging more than others but we forget sometimes because of the move for the Democratic Party that there has always been a big chunk of independent voters. That is critical for folks to remember when we are looking at the Latino Vote, which is typically democrat. Steve kornacki was noting this at the top of the show. The Vice President is behind , trump for men under 50. Can harris counter that . We only have 37 days to go again, maybe a policy piece, we know in general former President Trump is really, he has had the advantage when it comes to the economy and we know men have been struggling in the labor market. We know some of the jobs they work in are disappearing, especially if we are looking at more bluecollar jobs. I think that is a big piece of it. The other one is that the effort is a little looser here but that charismatic decisive much ease a little piece that Donald Trump is able to connect with, latino men are not sold on. That is personal, as well as there is a return on investment. Donald trump and his campaign going back to 2016 have been putting money into them. They have kept up the message for latinos moving them more towards a conservative platform. So last night, meridith, in wisconsin, trump went through a litany of complaints about his opponent and then he had this to say. When we win, we are going to prosecute people that cheat in this election. [ applause ] and if we can, we will go back to the last one, too, if we are allowed. We will prosecute people. At least they know that is going to happen. It sounds like he is trying to invoke the lock her up strategy he used with Hillary Clinton but after two impeachments and a summer frequently sprinkle with court appearances by the former president , is anyone buying what he is selling . Well we have heard again and again where the former president has tried to undermine the results of the election before it even happens and part of that is ramping up its rhetoric, which we have heard, you know, him talking about, um, prosecuting people that engage in any sort of Election Fraud or Election Interference and we have seen how this has been a strategy for the former president , um, whether or not people believe it, um, it has appeared to ramp up his base and, um, when you are at these rallies, the Applause Lines he gets when he talks about this, um, it is something that , it seems like, his Core Base of supporters likes to hear. We have the only Vice President ial debates on tuesday. What can we expect and that . Any hints on strategy . You know, what we have been seeing is key what has been playing. Jd vance, i think, there is preparation there, in terms of what he may come back walz with in terms of policy, but also personality. I think, at the end of the day, this is about being a contrast, about seeing two men, two white males, generally in the same age demographic who are worlds apart in their political views. I think for the american public, seeing that contrast and hopefully getting details, even though i am not super optimistic about the details part, but at the end of the day, people will make up their minds and hearts and they will be watching the demeanor of those gentlemen to see what speaks to them in terms of how they will be helped. Five, do you have any memories at all of his second debate between Trump And Harris and could of good showing by vance give trump the confidence to pursue a second debate with harris . Maybe, but i am not very optimistic that we will see any more debates here. I think this next one with the Vice President nominees could be the very last one that we see. You know, i dont think many undecided voters will be making their decisions off of, um, the two coasts two men on stage Tuesday Night but in a race incredibly close, um, how they comport themselves, anymore they can glean about the sort of policies that, um, Trump And Trump will have in their nextgeneration administration, um, it could potentially move the needle but i dont think in any kind of significant way. It is good to see you both. Israel unleashes a new round of attacks on hezbollah. The impact it is having on the militant group when we are back in 90 seconds. Nds. With tmobile for business. The Israeli Military says it killed more than 20 additional terrorists, including yet another senior Hezbollah Member just days after the death of the top leader. Matt bradley is in beirut with more on all this. Bring us the Bullet Points of the latest happening there, what are you seeing and hearing . Reporter we are seeing and hearing continue bombardments by the israeli, intentional targets are mostly shiite areas and neighborhoods in beirut like The One by my right shoulder. That is where We Saw two days ago the strike of several huge weapons that killed Hassan Nasrallah, the head of hezbollah. This is happening as continued israeli assaults fall on hezbollah as hezbollah continues to try to strike Lebanon And Dippel katz diplomats try to come to some sort of Peace Agreement between Lebanon And Israel. It is between Lebanon And Israel and not hezbollah because hezbollah is a designated terrorist group. If lebanon is on board, they hope to stop the bombardment and apply the terms of the deal. Here is what John Kirby from the White House had to say about this a little while ago. Well, their rhetoric certainly suggest they will try to do something, you know, they are just coming out of tehran but we dont really know. We are watching this very, very closely, just to see if and how hezbollah and or iran may react, as well as Militia Groups in iraq and syria. We have to wait for some response and we have to make sure we are ready. We hope we are, we think we have the Force Capability in the region but it is too soon to know how iran will react to this. Reporter what you just heard, John Kirby is speaking about iran, which is the primary benefactor for hezbollah and also for the with these and yemen, hamas in the gaza strip, various militant groups in iraq and syria. This is what the israelis are speaking of, they have been confronting indirectly through proxy groups throughout the entire region, iran is a big wild card, what they do next will determine the course of this very volatile moment. Your 100 right. We are watching that closely with you. Thank you. Joining me now is a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of state, president of Washington Strategy Group and democratic strategists at democracy partners. Welcoming get get into this. Hezbollah said two more deaths were confirmed. How does this affect the ability of this militant group to respond . Well, alex, what we are witnessing is the most stunning Israeli Military success since the 1967 six day war. They have flipped the script entirely on hezbollah in a matter of days. Hezbollah is reeling, as we have seen now for the last 10 plus days from the attacks that decimated their internal communications to now the devastating assassination of Hassan Nasrallah and his top lieutenant. Hezbollah right now is lost and israel is taking advantage so this means that israel now will try to identify targets and destroy hezbollahs sequential leadership and then as a result of that, as well, try to take out its missile capabilities and its ability to attack northern israel, as well. It is really a moment, i believe, the israeli government are leading and the moment to press their advantage. President biden briefly responded to a Question Yesterday when asked about the chance of a Ground Invasion by israel into lebanon. Listen to what he said. Reporter mr. President, is a Ground Incursion into lebanon inevitable . I am for a ceasefire. The president continuing his calls for ceasefire but how do these strikes in lebanon affect the chances of one . Well i do think there is the possibility of a limited Ground Incursion, if it is going to result in eliminating Weapons Cache 80s and capabilities but israel has a long and dark history of Ground Invasions and occupation of Southern Lebanon and it has not ended well for israel and it is not something that will maintain their advantage. When we talk about regional war, alex, we are talking basically about israel versus iran, not other countries. The other countries are staying out of this. By invading and occupying lebanon, that would change the dynamics and bring in pressure from countries in israel that they have relationships with. It would be a very dangerous maneuver for them to do that. They would have to be very clear messaging if they go on the ground because of what their purpose is and how it is fairly unlimited. Earlier today, irans Foreign Minister said the killings of Senior Ministers will not go unanswered. What sort of response do you expect from iran . As matt said, this is the real wild card. Right now in the united states, we have our Aircraft Carriers in the region, trying to deter iran from taking shots that could be unwise. I think they need to think more than three times about what they are witnessing right now. Israel has been effective, its strikes have been extraordinary. It is untethered, in many ways, it is fighting the houthis right now in yemen. For iran, this is a moment to think about maybe calling off hamas, maybe joining in the calls as President Biden and Vice President harris are calling for the ceasefire, that would put the diplomatic opportunity in front of us that these strikes have created for israel, as well. You know, iran does not have a lot of Military Options right now and there are diplomatic options out for them and, of course, as you are pointing out, that is the big wild card. Their proxies are getting devastated right now by israel. They themselves have been very loath to directly engage and intervene as a result. Okay, i appreciate your insights. At least 66 deaths are being blamed on the storm across five states, about 3 Million homes and businesses from florida to indiana remain without power. Also today President Biden approving a major Disaster Declaration for florida that makes federal funding available for housing, repairs and other recovery projects. Fema says it has pulled off more than 600 rescue so far across several states. We will bring in right now one vanegas from Treasure Island, florida. Which is a look like behind you and what a Relief Efforts like there, juan . Reporter alex, we are still under Search And Rescue missions here in the Barrier Islands. We are east of Tampa Bay, this is the Tampa Bay area. This is the easternmost land, the Barrier Islands. Weve got destruction from helene in different parts of the country, from florida going up into georgia. Now you see the videos out of North Carolina. The destruction comes in different ways. What we see from North Carolina is from heavy rain, those flooded areas with the ground that was already saturated with water. We also have a lot of damage during these are hurricanes that come from the wind. Here in florida, most of the damage came from the Storm Surge. This is what was left after the water, essentially from the gulf of mexico, rose and came into these properties. You can see this area behind me, there is a car that was across the street at a property. Maybe 100 feet in the other direction, all the debris around is debris pushed by the water. The water then receipts and this is what is left. The properties behind we see that look okay, those were also underwater. A lot of the residents will come back and find appliances, furniture, essentially everything inside of those first floors are completely ruined. We have hundreds of thousands without power. This is an area that has no power. We reported the number of deaths that has unfortunately kept rising, some of those deceased were found in these areas of the Barrier Islands. We spoke to a neighbor just on the other side of this home that is already cleaning. He says as he is cleaning up his property, he is helping some of his neighbors who needed water. He let another neighbor borrow a generator he brought with him. Here is what he said about the destruction. The house is down, i was surveying the damage in the Storm Surge went right through the windows, the house, you cant even walk down there. There is one house over there. Reporter that is just one of the neighbors cleaning out his property. Alex, i said we were east of Tampa Bay but we on the West Side of Tampa Bay, that is where the Barrier Islands are located. These islands essentially separate the Tampa Area from the gulf of mexico. That is, of course, why they suffer so much destruction. I want to show you real quick, this is one of The Reasons Why. The power has been locked out in so many areas. This has been blocked off. If somebody were to walk by, maybe they wouldnt see the danger right away but we have Power Lines on the other side right here. That needs to be assessed. This is just one of the streets we walked down. Some of the damage we see here on Treasure Island is people come back and assess the damage, alex, the Search And Rescue missions here continue. That is so hard to see all of that, guad. You are right, it is hard to see the wires down, guad, there is a Red Tape blocking them off. A big endorsement early today for the harriswalz campaign, former republican senator Jeff Flake endorsing Kamala Harris for president. Meanwhile, a new Nbc Poll this morning places harris in the lee with Latino Voters, coveted and needed vote in the tight race. Joining me now is the senior Spokesperson And Advisor to the harriswalz campaign. It is good to see you, my friend. Lets start with the new endorsement. Former senator flake writing, i want to support a president ial candidate who seeks to unite our country rather than one who divides us, one who represents the ideals of a new generation of leadership, based not on grievances of the Past But Hope for the future. Look, strong words from yet another prominent republican. Is there any calculation on how much these endorsements are helping . Well, they certainly matter a lot, alex, especially when it comes to attracting independent Swing Voters and moderate republicans turned off by Donald Trump, who dont support his dangerous project 2025 agenda, who understand that Donald Trump getting back in the White House a second time would be far worse that it was the first time and that was pretty bad. So when you see somebody like senator Jeff Flake you know, you see a former four Star General who was on another network this morning talking about his endorsement, he placed an oped earlier this week in the New York times endorsing the Vice President , these things matter, endorsements matter. We have quite a few of them. What also matters, alex, is the fact that over 400 economists and Business People have endorsed Vice President harris, they endorsed her earlier this week. They touted her economic plan to build out middleclass families and create a new opportunity for all. These endorsements matter, we are getting quite a few of them. They do matter in tight elections like we are facing this time around. For sure. Lets return to the new poll this morning, harris is leading with Latino Voters, very intentional with numerous visits to nevada and arizona, nevada today, in fact, states with high latino populations. Polls show some mixed results. What is the Campaigns Interpretation of them . Reporter well look, alex, we are working very, very hard to earn the vote of every single american, including the latino population. As you noted, the Vice President , traveling to nevada, you know, hitting some of the key areas in the country where the Latino Vote is prominent, we also have a series of surrogates we are sending out to these areas, senator alex padilla, you know, America Ferrero was just on the Campaign Trail this past weekend. We are working this but we also know we have a lot of work to do. We also know that our plan, the Vice President s plan, is a plan that would build out middleclass Family And Help latinos not just get ahead but stay ahead. You know, she talked about in pittsburgh early this week, her vision for expanding opportunities for families, making sure that people can buy a house, making sure people can afford their prescription drugs, making sure that also american families can put a little money back for a vacation, for their kids college education. These are the tangible ideas the Vice President is putting forward and ideas that resonate very much with latino families and we are working very hard every single day, she is working very hard to earn their vote. Friday, as you know, Vice President harris visited the Border Towns in arizona and confronted an issue that trump and republicans have repeatedly criticized her on, take a watch. As president , i will only bring back the Border Security Bill that Donald Trump tank tonight, i will do more to secure the border, to reduce illegal border crossings, i will take further action to keep the border closed between ports of entry . In fact, Arizona State RepresentativeConsuelo Hernandez told nbc a Border Wall is something Vice PresidentHarris Supports but only where it makes sense. Does the Harris Campaign believe that supporters will accept the notion of her building more Border Wall . Does the where it makes sense part, is not getting through . Well look at the plain and simple matter is, alex, a significant majority of the american people, both democrats and republicans, want something done on the border. They want a comprehensive Immigration Policy in place. That is one of The Reasons WhyVice President harris went to the border to talk about what her plan is, what her vision is. Course, in contrast to Donald Trump, who, when given the opportunity to pass meaningful, comprehensive immigration reform, not only told his allies in congress not to do it but he kept it from becoming law. It is a historic, bipartisan deal that both republicans and democrats came together on. The only reason it didnt pass and why you didnt reach President Bidens desk for signature is because Donald Trump didnt want to give President Biden a political win. Of course, that is something Vice President harris is making very clear. As president , she wants to make sure we are addressing the border. She made sure it would be clear what she would go further than what the biden administration has. You will hear her talking about that. She wanted this edition had on, just like she did in the debate. She will construct confront this issue and we are going on the offense when it comes to the border. Speaking of the day, what you expect Tuesday Night for the Vice President ial candidates . Well, alex, first of all, Jd Vance, yale educated attorney has debated a lot of times. He has done book turns this macbook course, he is used to going out there and doing debates. You know, we expect him to have a good night. In contrast, Governor Walz, we also expect him to have a good night, he is Somebody Who gets out there and talks to people, talks to voters and tells the truth. In very plainspoken terminology. I think it will be, you know, interesting, to see say the least, to see what kind of lies Jd Vance, you know, spews from the debate stage, he is not exactly Somebody Who, you know, like to tell the truth. I think you will see Governor Walz hold him accountable. The Bottom Line is Tuesday Night is going to be , um, an opportunity for the american people to see the stark contrast between the two campaigns. The Campaign Building out the middle class and creating opportunities for all versus the Trump Campaign who wants to implement a divisive, dangerous trend 14 agenda that would create a national Abortion Ban and raise taxes on american families. [music playing] new today, an oped in the Washington Post suggests the Florida Senate Seat may be implied. It suggests new polling and shows incumbent republican Rick Scott ahead of his opponent but within the margin of error. Lets bring in a florida democratic Party Chair and former candidate for the governor of florida. It is good to see you. How much of an Uphill Battle is this . Are you seeing a real shot at a democratic candidate winning a florida u. S. Senate seat, which is not happen since Democrat Bill nelson lost . I do see it. First of all, florida is in place. Talk about Rick Scott for a second. Rick scott has not been able to win not only his two governor races but is u. S. Senate a race by a margin of more than 1 . Add on that to the fact he has been there 14 years, he is bad on social security, he wants to eliminate social security, access to medicare, medicaid, he is horrific on the environment and is horrible on reproductive care. In the state of florida he only pulls back 35 . Take somebody very special to get to 35 percent on the counter of that, you have to look at his apartment, member of congress who every single day wakes up and works for the people of our state. Rick scott has never been able to run, he is number one in the president ial election cycle. Now we feel there is momentum on the ground, a seismic shift in the state of florida. We have this year knocked on 1. 5 million. We have called over 6. 3 Million people in the state of florida, Text Messages to 13 Million floridians but we are seeing a groundswell that we believe we will be victorious in november. Let me ask you about Amendment 4. We know this is for the six week Abortion Ban getting a lot of attention from voters. How much can this Affect Turnout . You know, what is happening here, we have built a broad coalition. We have 1. 4 million signatures to get it even onto the ballot. That was democrat, republican and independent. These are the type of issues really transcending partisan politics. Because Ron Desantis and the republican party in the state of florida have gone so hard on the six week Abortion Ban, we are seeing horrific stories from across not just florida, but the entire south. We are sharing values with people in our state that one Government And State out of this important family decision. Government should not be in the ballot box, government should not be in their Doctors Offices and certainly not in this very important conversation. As people are coming out, we say, dont worry about your vote, worry about Amendment 4 and putting reproductive healthcare back in the constitution and Rick Scott will go to washington, d. C. And support a national Abortion Ban and would sign the six week ban. These are the types of things we are connecting the dots on. You Cant Vote for Amendment 4 and for Rick Scott, it is counter to your voice. Here is a clue that Rick Scott thinks he might be in trouble. Look at this. Who knows what the reason is that something has changed. Massive storms, massive Storm Surge. Weve got to have something to change. The climate is clearly changing. Im sorry, who knows what the reason is . Anyways, this is a big Shift And Rhetoric for republicans. Why is he changing his tune . That is exactly right, alex. You know, having lived here in the state of florida, everybody knows for eight years Rick Scott refused to allow his staff inside the Governors Office to even mention the words climate change. In fact, he supported the office of energy moving from the Governors Office to my last role as commissioner of agriculture. So to find he is talking about the climate is changing and he is part of the reason why we are having this debacle in our state to begin with because there is no forward movement protecting our environment and, of course, we are ever dealing with horrific Property Insurance prices he started when he was governor under capitalizing the insurance market. So we are living under a perfect storm. Rick scott is bad on all these issues. To your point, he is changing his Tune Today because he knows we are out here working every single day to make sure we retire him on November 5 and we elect Debbie Mucarselpowell to the u. S. Senate. Mayor Eric Adams at one of two church visits after pleading not guilty to five federal felony counts. The mayor is accused of taking more than 1000 of travel benefits, as well as illegal Campaign Donations from wealthy turkish nationals in exchange for personal favors. Mayor adams addressed the charges outside the manhattan courthouse. This is not even a real case. This is the Airline Upgrade Corruption case. Joining me now is msnbc political correspondent lisa rubin. You heard adams attorney minimize this case and placing the blame on a staffer. You know that prosecutors dont indict someone unless they think they can get a conviction. Are these charges as trivial as they are making them out to be . No, alex, they are not trivial at all. The central obligations here is that mayor adams, in exchange for my unlawful Campaign Contributions and other benefits, getting free travel tickets, as well as upgrades, persuaded the Fire Department of the city of New York to grant a certificate of occupancy for a 36 Story Building owned by the turkish government and in which they wanted to house the turkish consulate. That means there is theoretically an unsafe 3 plus Story Building in the city right now for which approvals were granted, not because they deserved it, but because the mayor directly asked for it in exchange for favors from the turkish government. To me, that is quite a serious allegation. Adams is set to appear in court wednesday with his lawyers filing a motion to dismiss. How likely will it be they are successful after such a short time the mayor was indicted . Yeah, i was very surprised to see alex miro, the Mayors LawyerWe Saw in that video there, announced last week he was intending to move to dismiss so rapidly. We often see criminal defendants moved to dismiss, they are really successful. More importantly, we really see someone moved to dismiss before they even get their arms around the discovery they are entitled to from the government be It State or local
