The swimming pools at the Rosemary Recreation Complex in Needham are closed due to the impact of Tropical Storm Elsa.Town officials say that the water at Rosemary Lake rose and flooded the pools during the storm Friday and that the pools' pumps and filters had to be shut down in order to preserve them. The pumps and filters were turned back on Saturday morning and the work to get the pools reopened has started, but officials say it will take longer than they would like. The town will work to rebalance the pools' water chemistry over the weekend and will then have a water testing lab take a sample of the pool water for a bacteria test Monday morning. The pools will reopen once officials receive word that the water is safe, but the lab results can take three to four days to come in."This means that the pools will not open until later this week. Friday would be the earliest possible day for us to open," town officials said in a statement.Needham residents who have family time slots, lap swim, swim lessons or swim team registrations will be contacted by town officials directly regarding cancellation policies.Updates will be made to the Needham Park & Recreation website and social media pages throughout the week.
