The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Central Luzon through the Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office has completed the road projects with a total length of 3.07 kilometers. The Barangay Kalikid Sur Road in Cabanatuan City and Barangay Ligaya Road in Gabaldon have a combined budget of PHP12.6 million funded through the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022. On the other hand, the newly-concreted road in General Tinio amounting to PHP12.3 million road was made possible through the convergence program of the DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA) with funding sourced from the 2021 GAA. DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino, said on Friday that all the concreted roads now ensure smoother and safer travel for motorists and commuters. "Motorists and residents will no longer worry about their safety during rainy days when the old unpaved roads were muddy and slippery," Mercado said in a statement. With the newly-concreted roads, he said the local economies and livelihood in Cabanatuan City, Gabaldon, and General Tinio will be uplifted through the faster and smooth delivery of goods and services to and from the communities. "Improving local roads such as these ones from various locations in Nueva Ecija is of vital importance as we also put equal value in ensuring that even far-flung areas are included in our goal of a better-connected Philippines," he added.
