A Lexington nonprofit organization is offering free, virtual training for small business owners, aiming to energize local entrepreneurs.
Sustainable Business Ventures’; (SBV) program includes five, weekly, 90-minute ZOOM sessions. The meetings will discuss the book, “Who Owns the Ice House? Eight Life Lessons from an Unlikely Entrepreneur.” The first community read session begins May 27 at 4:30 p.m.
SBV President Bobby Clark said in a statement the key lessons from the book include identifying and overcoming self-limiting beliefs and embracing an entrepreneurial mindset as a life-skill. He said the program will empower people to recognize their opportunities.
“Folks say small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. Under the best of times, getting a new business started, or growing an existing business, is a huge job,” Clark said. “Many of us have great ideas but we need help in ‘knowing how’ to fund a new business, much less how to avoid the common mistakes that lead to a business shutting its doors.”
