Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court
A GRANDFATHER-of-two who was caught attempting to burgle a house in Bury on Christmas Day has avoided going to jail.
Career criminal Robert Worsley, 44, tried to run away when the homeowner and a friend caught him in the act but one of them tripped him up and held him down until police officers arrived.
At Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, Philip Hall, prosecuting, said Worsley and an accomplice, who has since died, targeted an empty property on Talbot Grove on Christmas Day 2020.
The house was undergoing renovations and had been burgled six weeks before, prompting the owner to install a CCTV camera that linked to his mobile phone.
