Bokaro: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited has shut production of coal-bed methane (CBM) at all its sites in the state from Tuesday in view of cyclone Yaas, the company said. Another big PSU here, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), however, said that it will remain functional to ensure production and supply of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to various states in the wake of the second wave of Covid-19.
The ONGC GM in-charge of corporate communications, Rajeev Prasad, said, “The ONGC has shut its CBM production for the next two days as a precautionary step in the wake of the cyclone. The company has CBM-production sites in Bokaro, Ramgarh and Hazaribag. We produce 20,000 standard metre cube CBM per day from two operational units in Bokaro and Hazaribag. There are 140 ONGC wells in Jharkhand, of them, production and testing are done in 22 wells. Drilling, digging of well and construction activities have also been stopped.”
