Sathyanarayana Beleri, a paddy conservationist from Kasaragod, Kerala, has won the Padma Shri award. He actively preserves over 650 traditional rice varieties and has introduced the 'Rajakayame' rice, boosting production and conservation in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Beleri's work is supported by experts from KVK Mangaluru and Adike Patrike. He cultivates paddy using the 'Polybag Method' and distributes free rice seeds to farmers. His efforts aim to conserve indigenous varieties of seeds and promote organic farming.
