GATLINBURG — After a dismal economic performance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City didn’t just rebound but exploded in tax revenue generated, and officials are proposing to use that money to fund a number of capital projects in the new fiscal year 2021-2022 budget.
During a presentation to the City Commission, City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle said tax revenue streams at the end of FY 2021 were 80% or more above budget estimates. The City Commission is set to vote on the first of three readings of the budget at their regular meeting at 6 p.m. today in City Hall.
