Recently designated a 501(c)(3), Parkinson Place aims to empower Parkinson’s disease patients and caregivers through free resources and group classes. Support groups and classes, like boxing, dance and music, are offered every week by the organization’s certified trainers.
Parkinson Place has added to its programs since the start of the pandemic and now offers 65 different virtual classes. According to CEO Alix Redmonde, every class hosts an average of 20 to 40 people, with up to 50 people joining her regular fitness classes.
Redmonde was determined to ensure every member could continue to access services via a virtual platform. After long hours and late nights, she successfully helped members use Zoom and other digital tools needed for participation.
