News from the courts
A 43-year-old motorist has admitted causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care after an accident left a pedestrian with a brain injury.
Martin Huxley, of Brookhill Road, Ramsey, hit the man at a pedestrian crossing in Woodbourne Road in Douglas while driving his Citroen Berlingo van.
The victim suffered a bleed on the brain and was said to have had severe seizures in hospital.
He was also left with a broken nose, fractured cheekbone and fractured eye socket.
Huxley will be sentenced on January 26 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that Huxley was driving his van on October 12 at 4.30pm on Woodbourne Road towards St Ninian’s.
