Peru school district introduces new 'Nighthawks' mascot

The Peru Central School District is sporting a new logo and mascot.
The district and its athletic teams will go under the name "Nighthawks" following a community vote on the name. On Tuesday the district formally rebranded its social media pages with the new mascot — a blue hawk's head featuring accent streaks of black and white.
Board of education members made the decision to pivot away from a previous name and shift to Nighthawks last summer.
District officials said area residents can expect to see the new logo popping up around town in the coming months.
