Joanna Borucka was 41 and originally from Poland. Her next of kin have been informed.
The body was found by police in a suitcase at an address in The Crescent on Friday.
A post-mortem examination has been carried, but a specific cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
It is believed Joanna was last seen on Friday, November 20. Police are keen to hear from anyone who has information about her disappearance or the circumstances that led to her death.
Det Chief Insp Wayne Jolley said: “News of Joanna’s death will no doubt come as a shock to those who knew her, particularly given the circumstances in which her body was found.
