The Sanitation Service Authority (SSA), in partnership with the Royal Barbados Police Force and the business community, embarked on a massive clean-up campaign in Holetown, St James, yesterday.
The issue revolved around a man named Victor Roach, 76, originally of Crick Hill, St James, who had been living behind the Indigo Courtyard, which houses numerous businesses, for more than a decade.
Owner of the courtyard, Camille Unovic, said they were relieved something was finally being done to the area.
“He was living where Limegrove is now and came over here when that was being built, about 13 or so years now. He actually lives on land belonging to Duke’s nightclub. Since then, he’s been accumulating garbage here plus he sleeps in front of the shops and when you speak to him, he gets aggressive. . .” (CA)
