RBI hikes repo rate by 50 bps to 5.90%, decides to remain focused on withdrawal of accommodation

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today hiked its key policy repo rate by 50 basis points (bps) to 5.90 per cent with immediate effect, saying that its Monetary Policy Commitee (MPC) felt that this action would support medium-term growth prospects.
